First appointment experience

had my first prenatal appt today and a vaginal ultrasound. Saw my baby for the first time (8wks) and heard her heartbeat!! A perfect 168bpm! It was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard. I couldn't believe it. I started tearing up when I saw the heart flicker but then completely lost it when I heard the sound. My husband also cried! Thankful to God for this wonderful miracle!

Did you recieve ultrasound photos on your first visit? I have mine coming up in the next week and after reading your post I'm overjoyed with excitement for my experience!

How far along have you ladies been at your first appointment? I just called to make mine and they won't get me in until I'm 11 weeks! (I've had to switch OBs because our major city wide hospitals have fallen out of contract with blue cross and are no longer in network!!) My last pregnancy I was in by 7 weeks. I am so bummed!!

I just read your post while sitting at my desk and just started crying!! I have my first appointment on Monday and im so excited!!

I also had to do this. I will be about 11 weeks when we have our first appointment. The wait is killing me!

When I go Monday I will be 8 weeks and 1 day. My doctor said she would see me anytime between 7 and 11 weeks but this is when it worked best with mind and DH schedule. I can understand how the weight is killing you! im going on Monday and it feels like its taking forever!!!

I'm in Pittsburgh and also had to switch doctors because of UPMC/high mark drama.

Gotta love this...we moved from Pittsburgh to Central PA in July. That UPMC Highmark stuff is ridiculous and it's the patients that are suffering. DD was born at UPMC Mercy and we loved it.

Do you live in Omaha? We have that problem here. I also have BCBS and I love my OB. She is in a private practice so it doesn't effect her.

I had my first appointment today, 6w6 days. They did urine to confirm, an exam with culture, and then sent me for an OB panel bloodwork. My doc first said they normally won't see me for my ultrasound until at least 10 weeks, but I about had a heart attack and she said "wellllll I guess we can schedule you for 1-2 weeks from now". We're going on 11/3. Going to be a long week and a half!

I have mine tomorrow in the morning. I can't wait to hear the heartbeat. Knowing these hormones, I'll be crying !

I didn't have a dating ultrasound last time, so my first wasn't until 13weeks. This time I have my first ultrasound tomorrow (7w4d) because my postpartum periods have been irregular lengths. I'm so excited to get to see this little guy/girl this early! My first official Dr appointment isn't until Nov 17 (approx 10 weeks) though.

Oh, you guys are killing me! My first is 11/10, so a little over two weeks away. I'm so nervous and terrified and excited! And reading all these heartbeat posts is making me tear up at work!

@Budders12‌, I have my first appt on nov 4th too! My new health insurance doesn't kick in til nov 20 so they charge $300 for appt and $300 for ultrasound, but said they'd let me pay $300 total.

They'll let me wait the two weeks for all the blood work so that'll be covered.

I know I could wait til 9 wks 1 day, but I'll be 7w, 1 day and it's worth the money to me. I'm terrified of them finding a MMC, it's irrational and I don't know why I'm thinking that. Ugh, can't wait!

My first was at 7w0d and I had a vaginal ultrasound. Hearing the heartbeat was amazing. Biggest relief and best day ever!

My first was 6w exactly! My next US is November 3rd! I will be around 8w 3days. With my first ultra sound we saw the heartbeat and it was at 131bpm. She said that's normal cause it was so early. Hoping to hear it next time!!

This will be my guys first baby and sonogram experience too. It is going to be great seeing his reaction. I am sure I will cry once I see a heartbeat...I am so nervous it isn't funny.

I'm Nov 4th too for my first appt! We are so nervous and excited since this is a first for both of us. I can't wait to see that little heart beat since I'll be about 9 weeks along!

I will be 6 weeks this Sunday and our 1st appt is on 11/25, just shy of 11 weeks. This is my first pregnancy so no history of problems, my ob said it was ok to wait. I was fine with it at first, but I have very few symptoms right now and it's making me anxious! I forget that I'm even pregnant other then sore boobs and strong sense of smell at times. Waiting is not going to be easy!
