Cat for the taking *Not really*

Ugh!!! My DH and I have had about enough with one of our cats and are about ready to kick her to the curb - metaphorically speaking. We got one cat almost 4 years ago now and she has been fantastic, when we first brought DS home she was very hesitant which is to be expected but now she is warming up to him and is more protective from a distance. About a year ago we got another kitten who unlike the first feels she needs to be in the middle of everything with DS.  And apparently nap time and bed time is the perfect time for her to run laps around his room - under the crib, on the crib, in the crib, and everywhere else in the room.  Even peed in his tub one time (she's been litterbox trained since we got her)!

Oh did you say tummy time? I think I'll get in his face. Oh playtime on his mat? I think I need to push my way under the mat. Oh he's sleeping? Well I need to get in the crib too. Oh you don't want me in his room when he's sleeping? I'll magically weigh a ton so you have to make noise and fight with me to get me out of the doorway enough for you to shut the door. Oh you mean when he's in your arms while you sit on the couch I can't walk all over him?

^This is what our days consist of.  Is anyone else having issues with their pets being super obnoxious now or STM does it get better with time? Obviously we would be heartbroken if we really did end up deciding it would be best to find her a new home but at the same time we need to think about our little guy above everything else.

  • I'm sorry this is happening! My kitty is starting to become more and more of AW too! I love my cat to death but I can't deal so most days she's banished to the screened porch (it's still nice outside in NC)... Good luck!

  • I ended up rehoming my now 14 year old husky with my parents when DS first started getting mobile. At first, she was having terrible problems with her back, and she was growling at DS. I called my mom in treats because I couldn't in any conscience, rehome her if she was growling at people (still didn't know that the growling was stemming from back pain at the time, and just thought it was because of my kids), and my mom volunteered to take her. Since then, get back pain has been resolved and she is so much happier not around my super active kids!

  • We have 3 cats 2 of which keep their distance. The third has learned to keep his distance with me but aggravates the he!! Out of DH when he gets home. The cat is learning to keep some distance from DH when he has LO but it's still a battle so. We days. We have LO in our room and the cats are not allowed in the room. I'm still ready to get rid of them for the shedding alone (not that I am, but sometimes I dream of rehoming) . I keep LOs glider seat covered at night because it stays in the living room and pick up all toys and baby lounger every evening. I'd put them outside but our neighbors dog already got a hold of a previous cat.
  • Get a spray bottle with water. Anytime he starts to approach the babies face crib etc squirt. Little goes a long way. Good luck!
