Trying to Get Pregnant

NTTGPR; GTKY: Childhood Snacks

Just got off the phone with my grandma and immediately wanted my favorite childhood snack... So it made me wonder, is there a snack that you can remember eating as a kid that you still love today?

Mine is a peanutbutter & dill pickle sandwich. I don't know how it got started (other than me loving pickles), but I still eat the shit out of them!

Re: NTTGPR; GTKY: Childhood Snacks

  • My tastes have changed a lot. You say childhood snack and I think of butter and sugar sandwiches and toast dipped in cocoa. Gross now though.

  • I have never had (or heard of) dunkaroos.

Deli pickles hollowed out and stuffed with cheddar (as explained in the GDI bump thread), peanut butter toast (had to be Jif brand) and bugles!

  • General at home stuff: tortilla chips with cheese, lemons (yes, whole, plain, I had to stop when told by the dentist that I was going to wear the enamel off my teeth), and butter sandwiches on wheat bread (only with my grandmother, one birthday she made one and put candles on it), whole jars of green or black olives.

Random snack foods that had cache at the lunch table: Clearly Canadian, Gushers, those Starbucks jarred frappucinos (those were more in high school), lunchables.

  • As a kid, Fluffernutter sandwiches (white bread of course) or fluffernutter on apples...you know, so it's healthy.

Now I'm trying to cut out sugar...natural peanut butter on apples is as close as I get to fluffernutters.

And I love popcorn. I could eat it all day.

  • @carolinagirl67 I think the regular (honey maybe?) teddy grams but I really love the nilla wafers better! Also Gushers were awesome!

  • As a kid I ate junk food pretty much exclusively. Slim Jims, Corn Nuts, Ding Dongs, Swiss Cake Rolls, and these Hostess fruit pies (photo attached). Now none of these things come in my house, ever, because I don't need the temptation.

At least I did always (and still do) like cottage cheese with fruit on top.

I may or may not eat S'mores Poptarts at least twice a week for breakfast. I'm ashamed.

  • I always had a tortilla heated up in the microwave and then a little bit of butter spread on top with cinnamon and sugar. Mmmmm. We also had cheez-its too, and chived cheese (philadelphia cream cheese brand) and saltines.

You can get them on Amazon. No idea if they're the same quality as what they were 15 years ago, but you can still buy them.

  • Holy shit, I found them.

OMG I LOVED these!! Nature Valley's Light & Crunchy
Pink/red granola clusters? That's a first for me, haha. Then again I don't think PB & pickle sandwiches sound appetizing to most either.

  • So many yummy foods are being listed, and I love them all.

As a kid, Little Debbies were probably my favorite.  I still eat Cosmic Brownies and Swiss Rolls.  My Mom still buys a box of the Christmas Trees to share with me every year.
  • Schwanns orange sherbet push ums will forever remind me of my grandma!

My mom always made graham cracker and icing sandwiches for what she called a 'midnight snack' when I was young. They were a cheap and easy evening snack only when she had leftover icing from a cake but they were delicious!

I haven't read the whole thread so someone might have already said it, but you can get them from BJ's!
  • I loved a lot of these. Especially the S'mores Poptarts.

I also loved Gushers and these:

  • I love the shit out of Little Debbies. And yes, the Christmas Tree Cakes taste better than regular snack cakes. YUM. I also have forced my mom to buy LD Cherry Cordials in NY & send them to me in CA, since I can't find them here. They were a bit smushed upon arrival but still happily consumed. That cream = nectar of the gods.

  • I loved Swiss Cake Rolls and these:
