Has anyone announced to the Internet world yet?

so we have told family and close friends and some work people. I was wondering if anyone has announced to the rest of the "world?"
In our culture back home, it's celebrated and announced right away as soon as pregnancy is confirmed! But I'm finding that here in America, people are more careful. I'm wondering what are your reasons for announcing early or later?

Re: Has anyone announced to the Internet world yet?

  • Not yet. I think we are going to wait till first appt. I only just went to get my blood test today. They need that before they will even schedule me a first appt.

We are going to do a really cute photo for our announcement. Im a photographer so Im going really plan it out and bring in another photographer to help me with the lighting and what not.....I can't help it......its that side of me thats creative and can't help but want something kind of fun and colorful. Besides.....more than likely this will be the only time we do this (I'm 38).

  • I would *really* rather not have to un-tell people should something unfortunate happen. So we'll probably wait 'till after the NT at 11 weeks.

  • We will once we hear a heart beat- probably around 11 weeks! I told family and close friends right away! I am glad too because the past few weeks have been awful!!!!!
  • I have told family and my work guys but have not made my Internet post yet. I think once I get to 12wks I will release a tracker on Facebook. And its no reason just waiting

  • We are waiting until I am 12 weeks to announce to the world. Just like @Mamahawk12 said. I would rather not have to re-post that something happened.  I would rather air on the side of caution when it comes to pregnancy then to jump the gun.

  • I have the same reason as many other people, I will wait to announce to everyone until after an U/S and heartbeat which won't be until 11 weeks :/  I won't tell our families until 9 & 10 weeks but that's just because I want to tell them in person and I won't see my parents until a month from now...  We did the same last time, our families found out sooner because of when we saw them but the "world" found out at 10 1/2 weeks... as soon as i had that u/s pic in my hands!

  • We will most not make a huge facebook post. I figure everyone who I want to tell  will know in the next few months, so no need to make a huge announcement.

We are planning on telling most of our extended family at Christmas, I will be 15 weeks.

  • In other threads the consensus is pretty much "do what you're comfortable with", don't worry about others are doing.
I'm waiting as long as possible for lots of reasons, one being to delay all the personal questions, unsolicited advice and inappropriate comments that are inevitable :)

  • We're not going to announce on fb either.  I guess if I look huge in a pic people will figure it out, but otherwise, we'll announce at birth if all goes well!
  • We will wait to post anything until we find out the sex..if even that. We waited until I was 15 weeks to announce we were having twins and we lost them at 19 weeks so we are pretty gun shy about announcing it to the world. We have told close family and friends and they all know not to say anything. Last time we told family and friends early and everyone had a hard time keeping it quiet but given what we went through they are respecting our request to not tell anyone.
  • We are waiting for Facebook until 12 weeks only because a good friend of mine had a photo shoot done with her 1st pregnancy and posted to Facebook early. They unfortunately had complications and had to make pretty uncomfortable messages to many people because people were constantly congratulating them. Not a nice story to share but it's something that I think of often and ofcourse I have anxiety and fears of complications. :( on a happy note it's fun to look on Pinterest for different announcement ideas!!
  • Probably not doing a big announcement.  People who I want to know I talk to either by phone or in person frequently enough to tell them personally

  • @skiergal38‌ You're not alone. We are keeping Facebook 100% free of anything having to do with my pregnancy and our baby. We are going to make a private Instagram for our close friends and family members. I'm so over Facebook, the over sharing, the showing off, the bragging, the AWing, etc. I just don't want to put our kid all over it when he/she can't consent to it.

  • @agpjt413‌ Yeah... I used to love it, but a few things have happened this year to make me hate it. However, it is really super helpful for fundraising and publicity for my NGO in the Congo, so I use it primarily for that now.

  • I didn't announce with my first but I will this time. I'll do it at Christmas with a Christmas stocking picture :)

  • I will likely make our facebook/social media announcement on or around Thanksgiving bc that will put me right around 12 weeks. We have already told parents and close friends. I am hoping to find a cute idea for the public announcment. If anyone has any ideas, I would love if you shared! :)

  • We got married in December 2013 (secretly) but had our wedding October 17 of this year. We are going to Disney as part of our honeymoon and I got a shirt that says future mousekateer with a pumpkin mickey on the belly. We will be adding that picture to our thank you cards from our wedding but sending them out after 12 weeks. Close family and friends know already :)

I saw a cute one with pumpkins that said " We are getting a new addition to our pumpkin patch" with the two parent pumpkins with something that resembles them and a small one with a baby hat on it.
  • Try pictures or etsy.com for super cute pregnancy announcments!!
  • We will be announcing on Thanksgiving, because I will be just shy of 12 weeks. I haven't decided if I'm going to post it on the Internet, but I definitely can't wait to share what I'm thankful for with all of my family!
  • I'LL announce it after 12 weeks.
  • I think we're announcing on Halloween, similar to the pumpkin thing posted above. I just want a strong heartbeat at my 8 week appt and we're good to go. We announced immediately with DD.
  • Immediate family knows. We are waiting around Thanksgiving to tell the rest of the family and close friends, sending out thanksgiving cards. Social media a week after Thanksgiving which will put me at 12 weeks.
  • We will probably announce on facebook around 12 weeks or so.. Haven't decided yet.  Definitely waiting until first appointment to tell a majority of people.

  • I wanna yell about it and tell the world but my bf is a really private and cautious person so he is adiment we don't tell anyone (although my sisters know) untill our first scan (late Nov) at 12 weeks. I'm finding it really tricky not to tell my close friends and collegues - especially when I'm vomiting constantly, cancelling plans because I can't face going out feeling nauseous and I'm exhausted/ratty. I'm respecting his wishes tho - roll on December! x
  • Due to multiple losses we no longer announce early. We lost in the spring at 13 weeks and I looked preggers, but no one knew. Then it sucked because someone due just after me lost theirs and everyone rallied around them. Talk about wanting to throat punch people... So we've told close family and friends but probably won't officially announce until we know the gender, which we hope will be in time for Christmas. My belly, however, is doing it's own announcing.
