potty training

So who has actually started?!?! I'm dreading it but my LO seems so eager.  I feel like it's still so early though.  She's 21 months and since she was probably a year and a half she began following my husband and myself into the bathroom EVERY time we go, so I got her a little potty.  Now she sits on it, says pee pee, poo poo, grabs toilet paper and pretends to wipe over her pants (copies us).  Everyone I work with says to jump on that but I read about readiness and she can't pull her pants up or down, she doesn't stay dry over night, so I just feel like it's too early.  Any advice would be nice.

Re: potty training

  • We've bought the books, the potty, the undies...but I just can't do it yet!  I feel like she shows signs of readiness and then they recede...so probably she really isn't ready.  My goal is to start after her birthday in late Jan, I think?

We have been sitting him on the potty and he he's been going for a while but nothing formal. One of these next weekends where I can take a 4 day weekend I'm going to do the naked 3 day potty training exercise though! Just giving myself a few more weeks to prepare ;)

  • DS has books and a potty for upstairs and downstairs. He sits on it every night but it hasn't really taken yet. A few times he's told me that he needs to go and will go when I put him on the potty but he hasn't done that in awhile. He was super interested in it at first but now he seems like he couldn't care less. We aren't going to push him. He'll come back to it when he's ready.

  • DD is interested in her potty. She will sit on it, but mostly because I will let her play on the ipad if she sits on it. She actually tired to pull down her pants to sit on it today.

After have LO in December dh is taking a couple months off (parental leave) and we plan on giving it a good try when he is home to help.

  • I just don't feel like starting yet. Maybe we'll try after the holidays.
  • DS is no where near ready, he won't even tell us when he has a diaper. So we are in no hurry. We have a potty chair, he knows what it is, he sits on it. He knows when we go potty...but otherwise, he's not interested.

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

  • DD likes to 'help,' me or DH, or really anyone for that matter, use the potty. She unrolls toilet paper for me and then we both wash our hands.

Every night before her bath, she sits on our toilet, unspools toilet paper and throws it in. Flushes and then gets in the tub.

I'm not pushing on this one. Her pedi said to try around 28 months. We will see if she's ready by then!
Our little Samosa arrives in January!
  • DS is showing many "signs". Anytime that he poops he will come and tell us. Usually we know because he hides in the corner or goes into the bathroom and shuts the door. We have a potty seat for the toilet and he tells us, "i pee" and wants to sit on it. We let him sit on it and occasionally he pees. But I am not in a rush. I don't think he is 100% ready for underwere yet, so we probably will continue doing what we are doing and won't push it much until after/closer to his second birthday in January.
