Do you have/are you getting a double stroller?

We are trying to decide whether or not to buy a double stroller for when LO arrives. DD will be 22 months.

What kind do you have? What do you like about it? What do you wish it had? Is it a side by side, front and back, sit and stand? Why did you choose the one you have? Do you think it is worth it? Any tips? Thanks!

Re: Do you have/are you getting a double stroller?

  • We have the Phil & Teds Classic. We love it. We initially bought it because we knew we'd be having at least two kids. It works for an infant, toddler, toddler and infant and then eventually two toddlers. It's not a side by side so it fits though a regular doorway. I've heard the side by side aren't great for crowds and doorways. My only complaint is it doesn't fold up very small but if you have the space it's fine. Hope that helps!

  • I scored a nice Graco at a garage sale for $30, otherwise I probably would have just stuck with our single stroller for DS1 and worn DS2 in the Moby or Ergo for outings.  The cost is what turned me off.  My sister bought a side by side jogger that she loves for her exercising, but it sucks for actual outings because it doesn't fit through doors.  The one I got is a back to back one, so I don't worry about fitting through doors, although it still doesn't fold down as compact as my single jogger.

  • We're getting a City Select. No way would I want a side-by-side in the city.

Our stroller is like a car; we take it everywhere like to the grocery store, out shopping, church, playground, friend's houses, etc. The stroller is very important to us, so we both did a lot of research and decided on the Select.

  • I got a city select and have used it a couple times with my son and nephew. We love it. Ben will be 24 months when DS2 arrives & I know we will get good use out of it (especially since it turns into a single for when Ben does outgrow it) I love the configurations & how it has stadium seating so the kiddo in the back can see & isn't looking at the others bum

  • I had an uppababy vista for DS but it was a loaner so it went back just after he turned one and I bought a cheap jogging stroller used from another mom. It was great for what we needed. With Ds#2 on the way i went back and forth on whether I wanted a double or not and how much I wanted to spend. I am notoriously cheap! I ended up getting a used city select for $500 and it had both toddler seats and the car seat adapter. Though it was used the second seat had never been touched and the one seat that had been used looked like it had been used only a handful of times. @jessie333 try looking on kijiji, that's where I got mine and it was a real steal of a deal. I love the configurations and when DS#1 is too big I can sell the second seat and go back to the single. And they have great resale value so even if I use it for a couple years and can make back half of what i paid it will be so worth it.

I have the City Select, and love, love, love it!  I got it just before we had DS#2 and have never regretted it.  I have gone through so many strollers to find the one that works.

I did the Graco Ready 2 Grow and hated it.  DS#1 (who is a skinny, skinny kid) was uncomfortable in the front seat because it was so short.  He always looked like he was sliding off the front because his butt was half off the seat.  Plus I hated the plastic feel and sound of that stroller.  It also took up our entire trunk (Toyota Highlander) and was really awkward to use.

I had a BOB Duallie that I loved when going on walks, but like PP mentioned, it was awkward and cumbersome to take anywhere else.  Going through doorways felt like a game of Tetris.

I also got a Sit N' Stand (Baby Trend I think), but DS#1 at 26 months was absolutely not ready for that, and never did grow to like it, plus I kept kicking the platform he was supposed to stand on.

Then I tried the Phil & Ted's stroller, but we hated having the 2nd seat off the back.  It mean no storage basket, DS#1 hated not being able to see, and again, I kept hitting my shins or kicking the back seat ( I have a fairly long stride).  It was promptly returned.

Then I got the City Select and have never looked back!  I love that it quickly and easily converts to a single or even a frame for the infant seat.  My boys loved being able to face each other (DS#1 no longer uses the stroller, DS#3 is in the infant seat), and I loved that I could easily seperate them as well, by facing them away from each other.  Also, if needed DS#1 does still comfortably fit in the seat even though he is almost 4!  I will always, always, always recommend the City Select for anyone who is thinking about having more than one kid!

Edit:  Wow, sorry for the novel!

TLDR:  Buy a City Select if you're looking for a good double stroller!

  • We will be getting the graco one that does 12 things that @tromboner‌ has.
I have the Graco Ready2Grow Double Stroller. Like @chilibeansm0m says it has lots of different configurations that fit two kids from newborn to up to I think 50 lbs for the sit and stand part.

I love love love it. It moves very easily. I can steer it single handed with both kids in it and it folds down and sets up super easy too. My only issue with it at first was figuring out how to fit it in the back of my Nissan hatchback, but I just took the canopies off and issue fixed. I don't need the second canopy while I'm still clicking DD's car seat into it. I store DS's canopy in the car and snap it in and out really easy when I get the stroller out.

  • i don't know what we're going to do....dd hates the stroller too....but maybe she'll like it again with the baby in there with her?  she'll be about 2 1/2 when baby#2 comes along....but she'd rather walk...but right now has a hard time staying close...so i guess i should say she likes to run...
my sister had an awesome double stroller, it was side by side and it fit the bucket on one side for my niece and my nephew sit fine by himself next to it (20 months apart)....and it was way narrower then you would think...i would go to the mall with her a lot and ppl would be shocked when she could fit it through the doors so easily....
she gave it away to a friend who had twins who are now 5...so that stroller has been around...forgot the brand/name...i'll have to ask her...
the tandem ones look cool, but i think i'd have better luck with getting her in it if it's side by side so she can see baby? i honestly didn't think i'd have to worry about this just yet tbh...
