Do you tell the doctor they are a second opinion?

When you go to a different doctor for a second opinion, do you tell them upfront that this appointment is for a second opinion?

I'm getting a second fetal echocardiogram tomorrow. I'm debating if I should mention what the first doctor found so doctor #2 can look for it, or if I should keep quiet and see if they also come to the same conclusion as doctor #1.


Sorry for a non-Jan13mamas question; I would normally take this question to facebook/social media but one of my friends works with the first doctor and it just feels weird. 
IVF/ICSI #1 - BFP, DS born Jan 2013
IVF/ICSI #2 - BFP, DD born Feb 2015
IVF FET - BFP, due April 2017

    I would also let them know. It's always best for dr to have as much info as possible.

    I agree with all pp's. I know there's a part of you that wants them to look and see what they find without influence, but if you are concerned with first results I would just explain what the first doc found, what your concern is, and that you were hoping to either confirm or get a different take on the situation. Good luck!

    Thanks eveyone. I did tell the second doctor what the first doctor saw.

    Baby has a very mild heart defect with one of her valves. The second opinion doctor was able to explain everything and gave me all of the options, plus they are in a children's hospital. I will have two additional fetal echocardiograms, vs the weekly (!!!) ultrasounds recommended by the first doctor.

    I probably wouldn't have told them they were a second opinion so I am grateful for your persuasive responses!
