anyone planning a pre-baby trip? Where to? This is my latest thought process lol

Go go go!!!! Ours was the best trip ever...after all the IF crap, it was just great. We went to the caribbean at ~20 weeks.

We also have a trip planned at 35 weeks at this nice resort about 2 hours away. It's nice to enjoy time together beforehand...it's one of the few things in life that really is going to change every aspect of your life.

If you've got the time to use, do it!

We went to a Sandles in Jamaica and we loved it! The bar tenders loved when DH and I walked to the bar because they got to surprise me with whatever NA frozen concoction they felt like making me

We floated in the ocean, read lots of books by the pool, took long baths, slept late.....it was great! I think I was about 26 weeks when we left.

We went to San Francisco and area last month for a week. It was so nice to get away and spend the week just focusing on the two of us, while we can still be spontaneous and put ourselves first! We are big travelers, so it was important for us to take one last trip just us two.

We'd loved to have gone somewhere but unfortunately, I don't get any paid maternity leave so I have to save all of my vacation time. We thought of doing something on a 3-day weekend (like Columbus Day) but then things needed to get fixed up in the house. We ended up scraping the idea all together. However, we're debating the idea of a 1 night stay over a weekend before baby comes or a spa day just for me instead of a whole vacation.

Wasn't really meant to be a babymoon, but we had already booked a trip to Chile in Dec/Jan. Will include backpacking in Patagonia, so thankfully I'll have a 2nd Tri energy levels.

I have vacation time that, under different circumstances, I'd hold until,after delivery, but I don't plan on being at my current place long enough. So might as well use the time. I was probably thinking long weekend more than a big trip. It's been such a whirlwind over the last few months, I'm afraid this will happen faster than we get a chance to realize and then won't have travel time for a bit. Now just to,figure out where!

We went to Riviera Maya in-between ER and FET in May. We would of loved a baby moon too, but with twins and a new house it is not in the budget. We might do a a day or overnight trip somewhere like NYC or Lancaster, but most likely just get a nice dinner and do a day trip to AC since it is so close to us. (about 30 minutes away)

I would def do it!! I'm still early but I want to do a beach weekend when I have a bikini -bump. also, I'm already feeling very clingy/needy and my DH works a lot so I want some one on one time together. I just know I will want a few quick jaunts if I feel up to it.

*** (and hoping this Ebola crisis will be contained world wide!) Right now I am paranoid to get on a plane in my first tri because of radiation, def not going to airports yet!

We went hiking in Italy when I was about 16 weeks. We had it scheduled long before IVF, and the timing actually worked out perfectly so I felt pretty good during the trip. I agree with others, it was really nice to get away and spend so much quality time together.

We were initially thinking of going to Puerto Rico (where we got married) for an early anniversary trip, but I've been so sick and I'm leaving my job soon. So now we're going to do the holidays at a cabin in the Texas Hill Country. Some of my family will come from Houston - we may end up making it a new tradition for Christmas. I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm making an appointment with HR now to decode the maternity leave policy at my job. If I can use sick days for the whole stay, we can consider a babymoon, but if I need to use vacation time instead, I'll run out of days.

If we do go, we'll probably stick to some place within reasonable driving distance, as I'm afraid and old lady like me carrying twins could have more restrictions than the average PG lady.

Fortunately, DH gets 2 weeks paid paternity leave at his job. (Women get 12 weeks PAID maternity leave! Who knew such a thing existed? If only I could get DH to give birth. *Sigh*)

@cls78 - We're considering an overnight in AC too. The casinos are in pretty bad shape financially, but on the bright side, they're offering lots of deals & discounts. Think of it as doing your part to contribute to the AC economy.

Not a babymoon but a couple of my close girlfriends are planning a girls trip in feb, destination unknown. They don't know I'm pg yet and I'll be 24 weeks when we go. Any thoughts on the most hours I'll want to spend on a plane?? I've already decided I don't want to go out of the US for my own comfort.

@amshark I get 12 weeks at my company too. So so wonderful!

Florida here, too...I was thinking a beach weekend, somewhere we could drive to. Don't want to spend too much. I'm looking to be self-employed soon, so can't really afford too much extra spending.

I live in Canada, so if my OH and I can't get to a tropical, all-inclusive for New Years, we might head to Florida for a week. I know it will obviously be nice weather compared to here, but just curious how nice. Thanks.

We had our summer vacation in Europe - Switzerland and Italy for 10 days. I was 16/17 weeks then. Our babymoon we did at 23/24 weeks in London for 5 days.

I will say I am glad we went when we did as due to some bleeding issues I am now grounded from flying. Plus I am getting more uncomfortable so a flight may not have been easy later on.
