Confused???

So I took 4 pregnancy tests and they all came up positive and my blood test was positive too. I haven't had a period since August 20. My OB did an ultrasound and couldn't find anything. She said she wanted to check my HCG levels and to wait a week and come back. My fiance and I are anxious and we and aren't sure what to feel right now.

Re: Confused???

  • It's been about 4 to 5 weeks since I did the home tests.

  • They didn't give me any numbers on the first blood test just said I was pregnant. And it's been about 4 weeks on blood test. They did another blood draw last Thursday the day we went to see the OB's office. I have just been having a lot of anxiety and not sure how to feel when we go back tomorrow. I figured if it was bad news they would have called by now.

  • Yes I'm just thinking I'm a lot early than we thought and that's why nothing could be found. We go back tomorrow just growing impatient.
  • I certainly don't want to be a negative nancy, but there are some possibilities. This happened with my stepmother after my sister was born about 10 years ago. She had the positive tests (home and blood) and when they did the U/S they saw an empty sac. Turned out that the fertilized egg was, with lack of a better word, a dud. They ended up doing a DNC for her since there was no fetus. Her body still produced the hormones and HCG of being pregnant though.

See what your doctor says about your HCG levels and maybe request another U/S from an MFM.

I hope this is not the case for you! Good luck with everything!!!

  • Did the check for eptopic pregnancy?
  • That is never good news we are just hoping for the best right now. Thank you for your input!
  • No she didn't check for that. I have researched everything and anything that could be going on its just making my anxiety worse.
  • Honestly, if you're already anxious about this, the last thing I would do is post on a message board. You're going to get any number of people saying things that they've had happen to them or to other people that are going to make you completely freak out. My advice would be to stop reading this board, don't google anything, and either call your doctor and speak with a nurse or make an appt. We dont know your medical history and no one on here can diagnose anything for you.

Keep in mind that a lot of people are on message boards for support because of something that has gone wrong in a pregnancy, so you're going to get a lot of people replying who have experienced the worst case scenarios. Seriously, call and talk to your OB.
  • You may have a tilted uterus!

When I went for my dating ultrasound I was just over 6 weeks and they had difficulty finding anything on an ultrasound because my uterus was tilted and much harder to see. Don't worry, it doesn't cause any harm, and once baby grows your uterus will shift into spot more.

Did you have an internal ultrasound as well? They should be able to find it that way:)

Most importantly, don't stress! They will find the little one :)

  • ^^^^^ all of this, OP.

mommybelanova, as you can't see inside OP's uterus, I assume, you can't guarantee they will find her "little one." Please don't give her, or any other posters, false hope. It seems your intention was just to be positive, but we don't (and OP doesn't know) what is going on with her pregnancy, whether it is viable or not, and telling her in absolutes that basically "everything will be okay" isn't helpful at all.

I apologize if I gave her a false sense of comfort. However, I'm sure she's aware that I'm not her doctor. I DO know though that stressing over anything isn't healthy so it's best to try and stay relaxed (as impossible as it seems at these times!) I was trying to provide her an example of what could be happening, since it had happened to me. That is all. Just sharing my insight! If @taya15‌ doesn't find my post helpful she can choose to ignore it! As well as yourself! :)
  • Don't stress too much. You usually can't hear the heart beat for several weeks. You may have just been 3-4 weeks along when your doc did the first ultrasound. I know it's hard not to stress but try to stay occupied.
  • My friend gave me one piece of advice when I told her about my BFP (the only friend I told): Don't google anything. Stay away from google, period. Ask any and every question you have to your OB.

    So true ^ !!
  • Thank you everyone for your input and advice. I really do just need to stop freaking myself out with all this self research and see what my doctor says! Thank you again.
  • I'm wishing you the best @taya15‌ .
