GTKY - What musical artist would you take to a deserted island?

H and I had this discussion in the car during our evening commute last week. If you were shipped off to a deserted island, and you could only take music from one artist/band to listen to for the rest of forever, who would you take? You can have every recording of them doing anything at all, live/album/singing in the shower.... But only ONE band or artist...

I would take Brandi Carlile. I can listen to her music all day and be consistently amazed even now, after being a fan for a long long time.

I don't know - maybe Ray LaMontagne? I think that would be good island music.

I also love U2 and DMB, but I think in the island setting, I'd have to go with Ray.

IThat thought occurred to me as I was typing this original post. There are definitely a couple that I could think of to take along in person for that reason alone....

@Lanatir - That list was sort of interesting... and hilarious. But some of the bands on there are common favorites! I definitely think it's easier to hate some more obvious choices.

For some reason I thought this was about being stranded with the musical artist, in that case I would pick David Cook (from American Idol) I think he is super sexy and I could listen to his voice all day! Anyway for the actual question, probably Beatles music, classic, huge songbook. I am also a big Counting Crows fan. Those are albums I can just listen to all the way through. That is a tough one...

if we were talking taking the artist himself though...definitely NOT billy corgan. that would not make for good times. yikes. in that case, i'll take chris cornell. that man can write me poetry any day of the week. and he's like 50 and still smokin' hot.

From the title. . I was thinking which artist would you physically want with you. And yes Adam Levine, he can sing and he looks damn good doing it . I woke up with MTV on and idk the name of the song "animals"? He is a creep in the video but shirtless and still extremely hot even as a stalker.

Just an artist to listen to? I've been a huge fan of Deftones for 15+ years. Chino 's voice ( for a rock/metal musican) is so soothing. Most of his songs remind me of sex, and lust , love, and intamacy. And his voice.. I'm in love with. They have so much range in the type of music they sing. Some albums are very metal/rock, but others are soft and sensual, I guess you could say?
Plus he sings in an album called team sleep and that album really is peaceful, in my opinion.

I'm a little confused by the question, if it's that you can physically bring them with you I"d choose Ted Nugent because he is a good hunter and he'd bring guns and we'd eat lots of meat. If it was music just to listen to for the rest of my life it would be Johnny Cash or Otis Redding.
