Lost my job at 11 weeks

I was a temp with my job for three months before they hired me permanently last month. Suddenly my boss started having issues with my work ethics and had me fired. These issues started right around the time I started showing (second child so the bump is in full effect.) Now I'm having to job hunt. Any tips? Has anyone had to job hunt while pregnant?

I work in HR..."at will" does not cover discrimination so that's not a valid reason. However, most companies have a probationary period, typically 90 days, and it's pretty hard to win a discrimination case if let go within the probationary period unless you have really, really solid proof

So sorry this happened to you, it amazes me how many crappy companies and crappy bosses still exist

Thank you all. I'm filing for unemployment today. I'll try to do temp work until I deliver but I'm afraid any job I find may just be enough to pay the sitter for my oldest

We moved when I was 16 weeks pregnant and ended up finding a great job that started as temp and I left a week before having DS. Try your temp agency again.

I was able to land a job at 18 weeks pregnant, and my bump was very clearly showing.

I just went in confidently, and when the interview was ending said "I am sure you can see I am expecting. Be rest assured I do plan to come back after the baby is born, and will only take the alloted time off. I hope after this interview, the fact that I'm pregnant doesn't matter, but the part that matters is that I would be a great fit for this job."

I was hired two days later.

Yes it is illegal to fire someone for being pregnant, however, most states are "at will" employers and either party can terminate the relatoinship for any reason.
