Delurking to say hi!

Hello people
I have been lurking for a while now and enjoying all the discussions and posts. I figured its time to start contributing instead of just being a leach. I am 20w5d along with my first and its a girl! I am a scientist (chemist) from Kansas City (Go Royals, Chiefs, Jayhawks!!) living in southern California. It been an eventful year for us so far - adopted a dog, bought our first home and now baby. The baby part has been a bit overwhelming (feels like there is so much to do....and we haven't started anything yet!) I hope I can make some friends out here....

    Where are you from? I lived in Lawrence (ku) and Overland Park :) didn't think there were many kansans around here! We moved 3 years ago and still miss kc.

We are enjoying the slower pace of life and less crime (the crime in Florida was TERRIBLE), but we do miss the 'city' life and all the options for shopping and food!

    Moving is always tough but I am sure you will come to love the area for the same reasons we did. It's not a big city at all but it so much more personal. After a while you will see the same faces at grocery stores, movies, etc and they are all friendly. When people ask you how you are, they mean it. Being in the OC I really miss nice people and politeness in traffic. And once you get invited to a bbq, you'll never wanna leave :)
