Will?

What do you think of Will as a stand alone name? Between DH and I our grandfathers are Wilfred, William, James and James. There are a lot of James/Jim/Jimmys in our families so it's definitely not a first name possibility. Thoughts? :)

Love William James!  its my brothers name... look, there is a reason there are so many and that is because imo it is pretty much the most awesome of all possible combinations.

Normally I would suggest a longer more formal name, but in your case I would use it. I think it is a great way to incorporate all of the grandfathers. You are lucky that the names are so similar. My cousin named her boy Nick for that very reason. Grandfathers Nicholas and Nicodemus were honored.

I think it's ok as a stand alone name. James I think is too short, a longer name sounds better. I don't mind Jameson. Are you for sure wanting to use some form of James as the middle??

Here's some other suggestions just for thought

    Will Christopher
    Will Alexander
    Will Matthew
    Will Jeffrey
    Will Anthony
    Will Elijah

Ooh, I like. I don't care for Will as a stand alone but it would make sense in your case, or use Willem or a different variant.

Will just isn't stand alone to me.
Willem is nice too, I hadn't thought of that variation!

I don't like Will as a stand alone name.  Why not Wilfred or William after a grandfather?

William James is a GREAT name.  I don't love Will by itself.  What about Liam James? (the Irish version of William.)

I think in your case, Will is great. Will Jameson gets my vote.

I think Will as stand alone is great!

I don't personally care for William.

SS: I think Will is fine as a standalone, but Will James is too staccato for my tastes and I don't like Jameson.

I like PP's suggestion of Will Matthew.

I agree that it's just not a stand alone

I don't really think Will is good as a stand alone name.  I imagine people will always ask him if his name is William or Willfred.  James is my top choice so I'm partial to that.  I like strong names.

My vote is William James.  If it sounds good with either President or King in front of it then you are golden!
