March 2015 Moms

Better late than pregnant? (intro)

I've been lurking and trying to participate in the community for a few weeks, and I'm only now realizing I'm being an idiot. Sorry for my internet faux pas, but here goes:
Hello, March 2015! I'm a single FTM, probably carrying a girl, and am slowly but surely learning the ways of TB. I'm open to advice, especially since I'm anxious about being a mom.

Please forgive the late introduction. And terrible joke in the title. I...I-I'm awkward.

Re: Better late than pregnant? (intro)

  • Welcome, awkward one. Why do you say "probably" carrying a girl?
  • Loading the player...
  • *feeling loved already* :3

mandi195 It happened yesterday and thinking about it is making me cry all over again. (This is why I'm thankful I work from home.) Long story short: my u/s tech annouced that my child haz cheezeburger before asking if I wanted to know what sex the baby is. I'm trying to accept "knowing" even though it wasn't confirmed, but retyping the story will probably upset me all over again. :(

(If you want to read the gory details, it's at the bottom of yesterday's bitchfest.

    Welcome and congrats!

Edited because I only wrote "Welcome" and it looked short and rude.  (I'm awkward too).

    But it's OK. Because:

  • Welcome awkward one!  My baby is probably a girl as well.  My A/S isn't until next week.  I had an appointment with my Dr. and he just couldn't wait any longer.  It was kind of cute that he was so axious to know.  He took me to the US room and did a quick one himself.  He was mad because she was not cooperating and he could only give me a best guess.  I'll have to wait until next week to confirm. He didn't seem very confident, so we'll see.

  • I've noticed you because of your avatar...but this last weekend was weird so I didn't know what to think of someone with a troll avatar. So I appreciate the intro!

    Welcome and congratulations!
  • Welcome and congrats!! I recognize your avatar

  • Beaujolais11 So sorry to hear your surprise was ruined too! :( It's nice to know I'm not the only one who feels an odd sense of loss though. (I'm going to keep telling everyone it's a surprise anyway.)

Haha, good to know I started to make an impact! :P I was dubious about how well my little buddy would go over, but I figured my avatar needed to be a quick representation of me and my personality. I usually think I'm funnier than I actually am and sincerely mean well, so I went with it.

  • Congrats and welcome. I am a single FTM too.
  • Welcome and congrats. Sorry your surprise was ruined. Did you sonographer really use the word hamburger when he told you? Ugh! I hate that.
  • Hi & welcome! :) Sorry about your ultrasound surprise. That would be a hard thing to wrap your head around.

  • malijo1025 YES!!! Retroactively, it's funny, but all I could picture of when she said "cheeseburger" was the infamous LOLcat.

No... No, you can not haz cheezeburger.

It's gotten a little easier to think about. For instance, it takes away almost half the choices for the naming issue. haha

  • Welcome & congrats! I just read your ultrasound story & I would be mad too. We were team green with my first & this time my DH wanted to know & I thought ok we'll try this way this time. But ya I wish we didn't find out, I like the surprise at the end. But we told the tech yes when she asked, that's ridiculous & cheeseburger?!! Have never heard that before.
  • Welcome and congrats!
PPD/PPA Mom...it has been super hard, but I'm making it! Slow steps...

  • jpavenski When I got home I started looking up a/s stories to see if anyone else had been through it. Apparently a LOT of techs go with "cheeseburger" or "turtle" rather than medical terminology. *head desk*

Just saying, if my sonographer says cheeseburger or turtle tomorrow I am going to make sure to say vagina or penis as many times as I can work in.
