Ten Things Tuesday!

Show us your 10 things! Thanks! :)

Me - 30, My wife - 31 , Together for 10 yrs - Married August 2012

5 medicated IUIs w/ RE (March - July 2013) = BFN

Fresh IVF Cycle in September 2013 resulted in 18 mature eggs, 16 fertilized, 12 made it to day 5. Transfer of 2 Grade A blastocysts on 9/15/13, and 10 embryos in the freezer!      *****BFP on 9/25/13 - betas: @10dp5dt = 232; @12dp5dt = 465; @15dp5dt = 1,581   *********William George born June 4, 2014*********

Re: Ten Things Tuesday!

  • 1.  I swear I have super woman growing in my tummy R felt her move for the first time last night and maybe it is the 1/2 café coffee I am drinking but I can see her little kicks on the outside this morning and she moves so much.

    2.  So R and I had her 3 year old niece visit this past weekend and kids are exhausting!  When she left R was like I am glad they don't come out at that age.  It was a lot of fun but she was always on the go.

    3.  I am starting to really show and have been able to avoid seeing my mother for the last couple weeks but I really need to tell her I am pregnant soon.

    4.  We registered this past week at BRU mainly for the gift card and completion coupon.  I registered for anything we plan on buying from now to baby arriving just so that we are adding to our own gift card value.

    5. Oliver was so good with Ava (the niece) she would hug him, kick him, pull on his tail, get right up in his face and he just laid there watching her like she was the most interesting thing he had ever seen.  The only thing he didn't like was when she would scream in his face.

    6.  On that note now Oliver keeps going to the spare bedroom where Ava stayed and stares at the door.

    7.  Deciding on a name for our little lady is tough so far we like Avery, Emerson(which we likely won't do), and Emsley.  What are your feelings on those names?

    8.  The further along I get in this pregnancy the more real it is.  At the 20w a/s she weighed 13oz which according to my pregnancy app is typical weight between 22 and 23w and the next weight point is one pound!

    9.  All the animals are coming up on needing vet visits and my PITA Shar Pei has too get sedated to handle being at the vet which leads to one expensive vet bill.

    10.  We need to get going on painting the nursery before the busy retail season starts for both R and I.

  • @amber&reva, I love the names Avery and Emerson!  Excellent choices.  Even the two of them together sounds nice.

    1. We have a wedding to go to tonight and will be leaving straight from work since it is at a winery about an hour away.

    2. My FIL in law flies in tonight for a short two day visit from Texas.

    3. We thought FIL was getting here Sunday, and now it is too late to change my requested days off.

    4. Excited to start cycle 3 the end of this week.

    5. Nervous about how I can keep myself busy without over analyzing during TWW.

    6. This is our donor's last cycle since he will be moving which DW and I are close to devastated about.  He is exactly what we were hoping to find in a donor.

    7. Keep reminding myself that if it doesn't happen with this donor it just means that it wasn't supposed to.

    8. Just realized we forgot to purchase a gift for the brides, fortunately, they have requested donations to their honeymoon fund which made that easy to take care of!

    9. Is it really only Tuesday?

    10. Oh no!  I forgot my shirt to change into for the wedding.  ::scurries off to find a place to go buy one during my lunch break::

  • Like @Crazyaunt84 said at 24w if you go into labor they will medically step in to save the baby before that they won't do anything for the baby as they do not consider the baby viable yet.  It is a big milestone!!

  • 1. My toddler is crazy. But too cute.  We all cuddled in bed this morning and he shook Owen and EV's hand repeatedly saying "Nice to meet you".  He also asks How-was-your-day.

    2. I'm meeting a friend at a cafe with her newborn. Its a cafe with a play space for kids and they are having a Halloween craft activity later this morning.  I'm hoping I'll be able to enjoy a chai latte and some adult conversation while Kaden plays.

    3. There are so many activities for kids coming up over the next couple of months it's super exciting. I've been making notes on my iPhone calendar so I can map the week/end ahead of time. Also I love being closer to our community.  HUGE GRIN.  I don't think I even realized how depressed I was living in the Tri-Valley.  I've never had such a hard time making friends. :(  It was like awkward high school all over again. I had one social date with local folks over the whole year we lived there....

    4. Our "being broke" problems are not just disappearing like I'd like them too.

    5. I often start a post and don't finish it until later. I think 45 minutes have gone by this time and I'm only on #5.  However Kaden's weird behavior was revealed during that time. He was taking a big poop in his pants.  Yup...

    6. I'm making incremental progress on our catering business. Right now I'm re-working the website, and trying to encourage past clients to leave Yelp reviews now that Yelp is up and running.  We have two bookings in the next couple of months a wedding and a kids birthday party. I'd like to see our bookings go up exponentially :-)  Maybe eventually I'll be able to pay myself and #4 won't be as stressful.   I love my wife for always encouraging me to follow my dreams, but I know that puts all the stress on her to provide for our family. I would really love to contribute to our bottom line. And... I'd love to do things like save to buy clothes for EV and I, or go on a short vacation...

    7. I'm starting to use cloth diapers again for Owen. It's kind of hard to transition back because of all the extra work.

    8. EV's boss wants to adopt out a couple of bunny rabbit babies. I briefly entertained the idea - but tabled it for now. I think when the kids are older we'll get them their own pets.

    9. Kaden is calling my name and I need to get dressed.

    10. My friend is German, which I love about her. I would love us to speak German together so I can get back into the habit, but I'm embarrassed by how rusty I am... I need to get over it, and stumble on through.

If we'd of had a girl, she would have been Emerson. I love that name. :)

  • 1. My brother turned 16 on Sunday. We never thought he would make it to this milestone birthday. He has been classified as "end of life" for almost 2 years now. Doctors cannot explain it. He has good days (good for him) and bad days, but he is still with us. It is remarkable. I can't believe he is going to meet his nephew at Thanksgiving. I am very emotional about this.

    2. I really didn't want the food I brought for lunch today, and I was definitely tempted to go buy a salad from the café in my building, but I didn't. Pat on the back. I am still hungry...

    3. I can't wait to start offering Will food at 6 months. We are going to try BLW. I am nervous, but excited. We are planning to start with a sweet potato on his 6 month bday with a "1/2" bday candle in it! :)

    4. We are taking Will to the zoo with my MIL this Saturday. I'm really excited!

    5. I was texting with my middle sister's boyfriend yesterday about the birthday present that I was buying for her (my sister)... anyway, her boyfriend is such a nice guy and I like him a lot, and I actually think he makes my sister a better person. At the end of our text conversation yesterday he said to me "Say hi to J for me, and I can't wait to see William at Thanksgiving!"... I seriously hope my sister marries this guy. I already secretly refer to him as Uncle when talking to Will LOL

    6. My mother has been going out shopping and texting me pictures of things asking if we would like it for Will... problem is I don't like 90% of the things that she sends over, and J pretty much hates 99% of it... she started texting both of us now b/c when I am at work I will often ignore her when I am busy and she isn't getting real time responses while she is in a store LOL... anyway, poor J now has to be the one to keep telling her we don't like any of it HA! Anyway, this has resulted in us making 2 Amazon wish lists for William -- one for clothes and one for toys/books/gear. This way family can see what we like. It is nice that people want to get us things we will use, but I feel badly making lists. It feels like we are asking for things, but that is not the intention. I don't know... I know we are picky, but also there is some reallllly ugly baby stuff out there. Why?!?!

    7. So, we are making it work being on one income. We certainly don't have lots of "extra," but so far we seem to be doing OK. It makes me wonder why we didn't have soooo much more extra and savings when my wife was working? Where did her paychecks go exactly? Hmmm...

    8. So my wife re-connected with one of our college friends (via FB) who has 6 week old twins, and we just realized she and her husband live 5 mins from us! J went over today to drop off some bottles that we had received as a gift that Will won't use, but are the kind these twins use. She said the twins are super tiny and adorable. I am excited for this connection for us and for Will! Friends! :)

    9. We have started making our packing list for Thanksgiving. I am nervous. We have sooo much to take... not to mention the idea of a 6 hour drive (likely longer with holiday traffic and multiple stops) with Will and the dog. I am also nervous about him sleeping somewhere other than at our house. I just don't want to mess up what is working so well for him...

    10. Aaaannnnddddd, I just talked off the record with a another dept head at work about switching to his team. It would be a total career shift for me, but I kind of think I might like it... ahhhh, I might be crazy!

  • @KH826

I feel your pain on the "ugly baby stuff"! We had a similar issue with our families sending us pictures of items..asking if we liked them...and then being heartbroken (or angry!) when we didn't because they'd already purchased them.

Sigh. It's hard, but I really don't want them to waste money on things we won't use (like outfits smocked head to toe in sock monkeys)!

  • 1. My cousin, who is trying to start up a photography business, took pictures of M yesterday and some family photos as well. M did not want to smile at all, which was a huge bummer. I did everything all day to make sure he was in a good mood, but he wasn't having it. She is going to send them to us in a couple days, and I can't wait to see. She posted a couple to FB last night and they were pretty cute.

    2. J and I both need a vacation, preferably to somewhere warm

    3. My mom and I got into a big argument over the weekend. I don't even know what to do anymore. We (my sisters, J, and I) think she needs some serious help, so I suggested going to therapy together. I hope it helps.

    4. M slept a lot better last night, but instead of sleeping I was lying there awake half the night. Why???

    5. M hates the car. I think I remember @herbabymama talking about C hating the car. When did it start and stop (if it stopped)? Anyone else with car haters that can give me hope?

    6. I hope it's warm this weekend, I'd really like one more hike before the mountains are covered in snow.

    7. I got J snowshoes for her b-day, which means we need to get a good backpacking carrier for M and a cozy snowsuit. I hope he loves it!

    8. I decided I need to do something about my post pregnancy body. I was looking at myself in the mirror last night and didn't like it very much. I hate working out though and now it's turning into winter. More reasons that I hope #7 works.

    9. I wanted to take M's 4 month picture in his costume, which means I need to make it by Thursday. Any expert sewers here? I don't have a pattern, so I'm just going to give it a go and see what happens.

    10. I'm getting a lot more milk today, I wonder if that means M needs more milk, or if my body is just finally deciding to produce what it is supposed to.

  • 1. I think it's time for a major hair cut. I used to always keep it short but have let it grow. C likes it longer. It's down past my shoulders now. That's very long for me and I keep getting the urge have it all cut off.

    2. Our Boston Terrier keeps running to my Mom & Dad's house when we are outside. This morning I was yelling for him as he looked at me and sprinted down the road. It used to happen just once in a while. It is increasing now to a few times a week.

    3. I've been continuing to do a lot of soul searching about our TTC journey. I've been thinking a lot about adoption and foster to adopt. Financially, foster to adopt is what makes sense for us. It also does in terms of how long it would take to get a placement. We could be waiting on an adoptive parent list at a OBGYN's office for years before we might get picked. Our County CPS is currently desperate for foster parents.

    4. I just brought up the idea in a more serious sense to C today. I told her that maybe we are supposed to adopt and maybe that's why none of this has worked out.

    5. I wish I had done more soul searching before moving to IVF. I suppose we probably would have done it anyway. It is depressing to think about the money that we've sunk into this for nothing at this point. That's the chance you take though, and we knew this. It's different to be living it though.

    6. I'm not on any meds other than the supplements - DHEA and multivitamin with Co-Q10 and some other minerals - and I still find that I'm overly emotional lately.

    7. Lately I've been wishing that I had gotten my biochem degree like I had originally set out to do. I'm tired of helping people.

    8. I think I need a break/vacation. I think I need to start thinking about self preservation.

    9. I'm ready for a new tattoo. I've been thinking about it for a while and finally have an idea of something that I want. Money will dictate when it actually appears on my body - so not any time soon.

    10. Infertility has sucked the life out of me. In this moment, I'm not sure that another fresh IVF cycle is in our future.

    Me: 30  DW (aka C): 29

  • 1. L and I are moving, well downsizing. Right now we pay an outrageous amount for our 2 bedroom condo in Evanston, so we are moving about 30 minutes north to an apartment where we will be saving $900 a month. L has a plan that if we stay for 10 months we will be able to get all our bills paid off including paying off most of her new car. So now we have a month to get packed and get our condo rented because we are breaking our lease 9 months early.

    2. When I first met L she told me there was only one lady she would ever leave me for and that is Kelly Clarkson. Shes a bit obsessed with her. So far since we have been together we have seen her twice in concert. Well December 20th, shes putting on a concert in Nashville and we bought tickets! I'm actually really excited because I've always wanted to visit Nashville.

    3. Right now I am off all my medications and I feel great! I have so much energy and I've actually been really happy. I'm also down about 9 pounds because I'm not so bloated. It's sad how depressed and miserable I get when I'm on all the crap. This year has just been so rough. I told L we need to take advantage of me feeling better before I start back up on my medication November 17th.

    4. We officially booked the Michigan barn for our wedding! We filled out the contract and sent in the deposit! We have so much to do but thankful we have awhile, so we can take our time planning and make it perfect!

    5. My dad passed away almost 5 years ago from cancer. He was a police officer in West Linn, Oregon for over 20 years. Well I just found out that West Linn built a new police station and they named the new community room after him. I thought it was such a special way to honor him.

    6.  Like I've said many times L hates her job and the only reason she still works there is for the health insurance. She had an interview for a lead position and was supposed to meet with her boss today for a second interview but told him yesterday she was backing out. She just honestly doesn't want it.  I'm actually happy about her decision because she would be working overnights, and although It's hard with my work schedule now, I want her home at night!

    7. @CrazyAunt84 I think you should go! You could even take me. Haha! That's one place I've ALWAYS wanted to visit! One day I will go there :)

    8. I don't think L is going home with me for Christmas. She just doesn't have any time off right now. She did ask me if I could stay here for Christmas and then fly home the day after. Since we have been together I am always in Oregon for Christmas and we've never spent it together. Kinda sad!

    9. I should be going through my closet like I told L I would do when I got home from work, but of course I was looking at my fantasy football waiver and on here so I guess I will do it tomorrow! Oops.

    10. I guess I should go to bed. I have to be at work earlier tomorrow. 6:30 :( Another 13.5 hour day. Boo!

  • @crazyaunt84 - Go!! I've never been to Dublin, but I wouldn't pass up such a great deal. :-) I can't wait to see photos from your trip.

    @amber&reva - I love Emerson too.

@kh826 - FX for your career transition.

@StacyLH24 - I'd love to see a photo of you with shorter hair. TBT???
  • 1. @StacyLH24‌ I'm starting to think about my Simone tattoo. Our amazing tattoo artist friend came to meet her the other day...I love this photo J took:

    image

    2. S turned two months yesterday! Today she gets her shots which will be sad to watch.

    3. To make matters, worse, J has,to open her shop due to firing someone and can't go with me to the appointment!

4.We engaged an architect to draw plans for our dream of a second floor. I am hoping I can do some financial acrobatics to make it happen. We'd go from a 2 bd/1 bath to a 4 bd/2 bath for WAY less than buying a new house.

    5. My wrists and thumbs hurt so much from breastfeeding. I'm considering a shot at the hand doc.

    6. We bought our tix and are going to attend the bump GTG in Boston that @ball.and.chain is putting together. If you are on the fence about going, I say do it!!!!

    7. After, we are roadtripping to PA to see my dad. His health is struggling and he's gotten very depressed, and I worry he'll give up...so I want him to meet Simone sooner than later.

    8. Niagara Falls is only 30 min out of our way so we're making a stop there for the photo op, and J's never been!

    9. I'm nervous to fly with the baby, but figured we needed to "break the seal" at some point!

    10. I read the TTC thread and I always have comments and thoughts and want to cheer you all on! Since I can't post there, I'll just say I'm rooting for you all.

  • @amber&reva - I like Avery and Emerson (I really like Emerson). Another name along those lines is Ainsley.

    @2MamazInSeattle‌ - I heart that photo!

    1. I seriously woke up today thinking it was Wednesday until I saw KH had started this thread. (I started this list yesterday)

    2. We're not ready to start TTC again yet, but I feel the longing to be pregnant again when I see obviously pregnant women.

    3. I'm also thinking about what type of birth I want for #2. I wanted to deliver Ash at a birthing center (insurance wouldn't cover it), but having had the experience of giving birth once, the thought of having to pack up and leave 4-8 hours after delivery sounds pretty horrible to me. That leaves home or the hospital. Home is really appealing considering how fast and smooth Ash's delivery was. But, I LOVE my OB/midwife practice and don't want to give them up. Plus, I had everything I wanted out of my birth experience at the hospital (and nothing I didn't want), so I don't know that I would really gain anything from being at home. Plus, not sure that my insurance will cover a home birth.

    4. Speaking of baby names, my number 1 choice for a boy is quickly becoming more popular, so I need to keep thinking. Z and I had a really had time agreeing on a name the first time. Since Sebastian was her choice, she agreed that we could go with my choice for #2 - but we may have to go back to the drawing board.

    5. Ash has some little raised bumps on his torso all of a sudden. He doesn't seem bothered by it. Wonder if I should call the pediatrician...

    6. Just realized that Ash's birthday is scheduled on the same day as the last day of regular season college FB - rivalry week. Oh well. We can keep the tv on in the background for the FB fans.

    7. The week before Ash's birthday party, I'm trying to juggle attending my friend's daughter's first birthday party and another friend's wedding that is an hour away. It's making me exhausted just thinking about it.

    8. My boy is snotty and I've been using the saline drops + nosefrida the last few days. He hates it. You would think I'm torturing him by the way he screams and cries. I saw this video yesterday, and it reminded me of Ash (without the crying):

    9. When do people start regularly putting shoes on their children? I've been waiting to buy Ash his first "real" pair after he gets the walking thing down. Figuring that might be another first bday treat. And a little trim. I need to do something about his lil baby mullet.

    10. Hugs to all and happy Wednesday!

  • @ATXmommas‌ -we used Robeez during the pre-walking, early walking period. We also got a pair of squeaky sandals that made noise with every step he took to inspire walking (it seemed to work) :-)

@2MamazInSeattle‌ - I heart that photo of Simone. I had a dream last night that I was going to get a tattoo (of books) while on the beach. Weird...
  • @ATXmommas‌ I like Robeez also. The little boy I used to nanny for had Pedipeds from the time of crawling to walking. He even had a pair in preschool. I think those are great shoes also!

  • @Amber&Reva, I love Avery!

@KH826, I worried about making a similar trip in August -- basically the opposite direction to visit ILs in NJ -- and it went just fine! Hopefully it all goes well.

I found the whole ugly baby stuff conversation interesting. I am really pick about my own clothes, house furnishings, etc and thought I would have the same problem but have been surprised how much I really don't care. I have a certain "style" I like for B when I am picking out clothes for him, but if someone gives us a gift that fits him and is weather-appropriate, I'll use it. Maybe my gift-givers just don't have horrible taste or maybe I am lowering my standards, I don't know!

    1. I feel like I am rarely on time with my posts these days, but that's OK.

    2. B gives the daycare ladies big smiles when he comes in, and they are very affectionate with him. It makes me happy.

    3. I lost 4 lbs this week, which is great...but I've been in a pattern of losing, then gaining it back the following week, then losing, then gaining...so I'm really hoping I can stick with it this time and keep the scale moving in the right direction.

    4. I do wish I could go running. When I was doing it, it did wonders for my metabolism. I still don't know how to fit gym trips into my schedule, and I hate running outside (not really sure how to fit an outside run into my schedule either anyway, since B is too young for the jogging stroller).

    5. I am excited about the GTG, but also a little nervous since I always feel a little awkward meeting new people!

    6. My sister has a serious bf we love and I was hoping he'd propose on her birthday yesterday. No dice. Oh well. I know it's going to happen, it's just a matter of when.

    7. My favorite (hard to find, late-season) apple variety finally showed up at the farmer's market yesterday. I was ridiculously excited about it. And I'm still excited cause I have another one to eat today.

    8. We are back to working on our wills again since we put the process on hold when I was induced. It's a weird thing to spend a lot of time thinking about, but at least we did come to a mutual decision on who B would live with if anything happened to both of us.

    9. I am looking forward to Christmas!

    10. Being a family of three is pretty awesome.
