So I posted last week about how I'm pretty sure I'm a sugar addict. Then this article popped up in my FB news feed today. I'm going to make a concerted effort to start reading labels more closely and snacking on sugary things less. I suspect I'm consuming even more than I realize.
Cutting our sugar was so hard on my body when I had to do it after my GD diagnosis. Now, I can't even eat much without feeling sick. I'm so glad I've cut the sugar and feel so much better. I still get sweet cravings, but I usually have a peice of gum or fruit.
If you cut it, you really will feel a difference! And yea, they hide it in so much stuff! Even "healthy protein bars".
Wow, weird that you posted this. I am definitely a sugar addict and ever since getting pregnant and nursing my almost 11 month old, it's gotten really out of control. I am maintaining my weight probably because of taking care of 2 young kids and nursing, but that doesn't mean I'm not eating way too much sugar..only 25 g a day?? I am wayyy over that just even for today already..I need to detox!

I also reduced my sugar intake dramatically after my GD diagnosis. I try to limit myself to one sugary thing a day, whether it's a soda, brownie, whatever. I do crave sugar a lot, so I try not to keep it around so I don't have easy access.

Yes!!! We don't buy sugary snacks for this reason. When I'm home and get a strong craving, all I have is fruit, almonds, veggies, hummus, etc. it helps big time with cravings! Another trick is when you get a craving, chug a glass of cold water. A lot of times sugar cravings are an indication of dehydration!
I have a serious sugar problem. And despite knowing that it makes me feel crappy over time, I still can't stop myself from eating cookies or ice cream every night. I really need to do something about it.
It doesn't help that I'm a stress eater and this hasn't been a very stress-free year for us.
