Will we ever be allowed to have sex again??

I know this is a weird question. But, after our 2nd IVF and finding out that there are twins inside, is it ever going to be safe to have sex again?? DH gave me the look from hell when I said we couldn't until after delivery day.

There are always alternatives to sex if you desire to be close to DH. It is rough on them not knowing for sure when. But I found when I feel gross and not in the mood (frequently) some naked snuggling and "playing" goes a long way. While I know my hubby respects the fact that I'm tired or not in the mood, he's just so less grumpy after some intimacy that sometimes I do my best to get in the mood, ie naps, weekends away.

Twins I have no idea but check with your doctor

I'm 15 weeks and no sexy time here

I had a SCH at 6+4 and two days ago I passed a huge clot and thought I lost the baby. With that coming out of the blue, we may not have sex until baby is here. My OB does have me on pelvic rest now since the last episode.

I agree with pp, if you're up to it, there are other things you can do. I don't like the poor DH excuse either. Definitely ask your doctor if you have concerns.

From what I have read, there is no risk from sex in pregnancy unless there is something wrong, like a SCH. I did a quick google and came across this recent abstract about sex and twins, which speaks to IVF pregnancies: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20707709

I had no interest in sex for most of the first tri, and I had previously told OH that I didn't think I'd be comfortable with it until the second tri, but we recently re-connected. My hormones kicked in and it sounded fun again. $:\$ ">

The only time we had to wait was during the tww. I am 32w pregnant with twins, the only reason we didn't dtd in the first trimester was due to horrible ms and just plain feeling like crap. The second trimester I couldn't keep my hands off him, now with 6 weeks to go I'm way way too tired and uncomfortable.

If your doctor OKs you for sex you will be fine. I don't think we had sex until after week 20, doc said sec was ok but my IF brain was afraid to knock something loose. I was so scared I couldn't even try. Then one day we tried, "quickly before I change my mind". It was nice and baby is still growing. Granted I wasn't always in the mood but we've been able to have sex once every week or 2. I am 39 weeks 3 days. We've been having sex lately hoping to induce (so i can deliver vaginally) before a scheduled csection for Wednesday.

Good luck, relax and like PP said there are always other ways to have fun

We are expecting twins and had sex from the time we conceived until recently (32ish weeks). Just too uncomfortable at this point and it irritated my cervix.

I am pregnant with twins and been on pelvic rest since our embryo transfer back in May! We were told not to have sex until 2nd tri by OB, RE and MFM. Then I had an infection and placenta was a bit low and MFM said he wouldn't risk it at all. After IF and Loss we just didn't want to take any chances... don't get me wrong it is SO FREAKIN HARD! We find other ways to be intimate but it stinks. Talk to your doctor about any concerns and do what feels right to you. Everyone is different!

I agree but I am 36 weeks and have been "using him" to try and get labor to progress because I have been contracting for a week now. He doesn't care and sometimes it relaxes me enough to be able to fall asleep easier although not any longer because my bladder doesn't care. We did have a few times they said to wait a week or two though.

I was having sex again after my betas. 24 weeks with twins and so far so good.

Im 28 weeks with twins and we've been having sex the entire pregnancy, we waited until first u/s after transfer then we held off for about two weeks due to SCH (dr just said do not have sex if spotting or bleeding) but as long as your pregnancy is progressing normally sex should never cause problems. It took me a while for it to feel okay too...IF mind!

It's really a personal choice. We were cleared to go at our u/s (6 weeks) but after a spotting scare (my cervix was angry about said u/s), I'm prob going to wait a couple more weeks. This is the longest we've ever gone without and it's killing me, but to us, it's worth the peace of mind.
