Trouble TTC

ttc problems

I'm 22 years old i have been ttc for 10 months now. I went to obgyn told her my periods are irregular. She said that happens. They have been that way since I have been trying. My ob also told me i need 2 be on birth control because 22 is 2 young to have a kid. Any advice

  • Head over to TTGP board. I have irregular periods and PCOS but I haven't been trying for a year. Unfortunatley it takes time!

What you can do right now is get a new OBGYN. You want a doctor who will support you and be on your team. Also, start considering testing for you and your partner once you reach the year mark to rule out fertility issues. Can talk to your new OBGYN about basic blood work and SA to get started.

  • you need to find an new OB. It is none of her business when you choose to have kids! Don't let someone else decide your fate! I would tell her to go kick rocks! It's your body and YOUR CHOICE! If you have a primary care provider I would ask them to send out a referral and see someone else, any one else. You can even do research on your own and find out the reviews on other offices and see which ones take your insurance if you have any, what the coverage's are and the dedutcables. You can also call your insurance and ask them for a list of providers they commonly work with, and see if any of them are accepting new patients. Good luck you sweety hope you aren't stuck in limbo for too long!

  • First of all, I all bullshit on your doc's comments unless there is something you're leaving out.

Second of all, go to TTGP and read their newbie blog. In the off-chance you aren't a troll, intro over there. You haven't been trying over a year and you aren't infertile (or at least, you don't have a diagnosis to that effect yet).

    Good luck and....

I'm only 22 as well and I get a lot of "you're so young, you've got your whole life ahead of you" blah blah blah... My brother thought the same thing and after about 7 years of TTC he had his first son at 34. So my thoughts are basically if you know you're ready no one should be allowed to tell you you have to wait especially if there are/could be problems because who knows how long it could take to concieve.
    Good luck!

  • Only you can know when your ready for the responsibility of a baby. No one should be telling you different. I would get a new ob - GYN keeping trying for a few months more until you've been trying a year . Then if no positive result I would after a year of trying see if you have any infertility issues.
  • At 21 I wasn't even going to an OB regularly enough for them to care about my conception. So good on all of you for caring about your body's enough to get checked out regularly in your young adult stage of life!
