Re: SAHM check-in 10/21
What were your successes this week?
I'm still standing. And now Elton John is stuck in my head and I hope you are singing along.
What was your biggest challenge or struggle this week?
Cold (baby & H). Teething. MIL
What helped save your sanity?
I'm pretty insane.

I really fluctuate week by week either being bored or stressed. I try to go with it, but the highs and lows are killing me. (I've been too stressed lately to BUMP!- it's terrible.)
GTKY: Halloween plans?
This makes no sense, given my last statement.... but... I'm thinking of having a small party. We usually have some friends over to sit outside, have a few beers, and pass out candy. I'm thinking of including some neighbors and moms I'd like to get to know better.

Need more Bump time.
What were your successes this week?
I am working on taking my extra tasks in stride. We didn't know a new doe was pregnant, and she had a kid in the worst circumstance for us. Now I am feeding the kid every 4 hours. I'm. Also checking the rest of the 'not pregnant' does every few hours because it's likely they were all serviced at the same time.
What was your biggest challenge or struggle this week?
I am constantly working on giving myself permission to not be perfect. I am only human, I haven't cloned myself. I will get done what I get done, to the best of my ability and time. A friend is struggling and I am working on supporting her without it being my problem.
What helped save your sanity?
My scheduled down time of nap time snuggles and Hulu. My amazing H has really been focusing on spending together time. It's nice to feel like a team.

I have a set routine ( kid has to be feed every 4 hours, milking, ect) but I have flexibility between the time sensitive tasks. I try not to set rigid of a routine because it sets me up for getting mad at myself for not doing everything as perfectly as my utopian vision. I am work in progress on accepting everything with grace and not stressing out.
GTKY: Halloween plans?
I was going to a little kid party, but right now that's in the air. I also made that pattern, just don't have the funds to by the fabric after unexpected expenses.

Sleep regression sucks.
@Meghan14- hugs! I've had a few good weeks but I know a low point come eventually. It's so much easier to pass the time being busy, staying home is nice and painful at the same time!
@sjelwood we are reaping benefits of hunting. Neighbor gave us a bunch of deer and elk meat. Never had it before so it will be interesting, but glad DH is not a hunter for sure! and hugs on the body image issues! I have started going back to the gym but seeing very little/slow progress. Kills me that my pre-prego pants will not be worn for a while still-- I can just now fit back into my 2nd trimester maternity pants!
@carleys Cookie dough ice cream sounds amazing! So glad you have friends! I need to follow up on the slew of playdates we had last month to try and make more friends!
@Flyingtoast- Way to schedule your down time.
What were your successes this week?
We got a huge pile of weeds/branches etc from our side yard into the yard barrel after several weeks of filling it. Our yard is a jungle and we still have a LONG way to go (including building a deck next spring if the tax man is generous!) DH also mowed and edged the weeks that look like grass in the back and it will not be a huge eyesore all winter.
What was your biggest challenge or struggle this week?
I had a bummer on Friday where I had worked really hard on exercising and eating and the scale read no difference since the last week. I was determined to hit below 130 and I wasn't even close. Made me upset and a little down but I have my own scale now, and am trying to undo the damage from the weekend's sugar intake.
LO is also cutting 4 teeth at once. I think 3 have broken through but it was enough his little body couldn't take it and he has a runny nose. We escaped it with the first 4 fortunately. So he struggles at nap time to breath and keep his binky in as well.
What helped save your sanity?
DH took Friday off, and while he had to do a little bit of work, it was SO nice to have 3 days together.
Topic for the week: Do you find an unpredictability to your daily routine? I feel like once I figure things out, they change. How are you handling it? Do you stress or just go with the flow?
Our routine is fairly predictable. I know LO wakes up between 7:45 and 8 (except on weekends- he actually sleeps in woot!!), and does about 2 hours in between naps. However his naps are inconsistent. Most days they are 45 minutes -1 hour each. Then I get some days where he takes almost 2 hours naps both in the morning and afternoon. I just try to go with the flow-and not get impatient when he wakes up and I'm not ready for it yet.:) But because of his schedule there are times where we just make do and nap in the car or a shortened nap. Everything else about him is pretty predictable though with night time sleeping and eating. I love this stage for us!!!
GTKY: Halloween plans?
Dressing him up as a "Jack-in-the-Box. I have a red onesie, jester hat, and still need to design a little box to sit him in (for pictures). Tuesday our church is doing a big party- family friendly. On Halloween day we will probably take him "trick or treating" at my MIL's and DH's brother's house. Since he's our first we plan to just stay home and hope we get some trick or treaters.
Also, what the heck does GTKY stand for? I've been on here for over a year and never thought to look it up.....I try to figure it out and am still confused....low IQ here!
What were your successes this week? Having a great visit with my sister
What was your biggest challenge or struggle this week? SAHMing with strep throat and being on antibiotics that make me feel kinda blech.
What helped save your sanity? How involved my sister was with LO -- she got up with him every morning, fed him his breakfast, played with him, helped with his bath, helped with his dinner, took the lead on keeping him entertained. It was a nice break.
Topic for the week: Do you find an unpredictability to your daily routine? I feel like once I figure things out, they change. How are you handling it? Do you stress or just go with the flow? I was just talking to my grocery cashier about this today (I'm so lame). On Wednesdays (pretty predictably), LO naps like a rockstar -- 2 2+ hour naps. On Thursdays (pretty predictably), he barely naps at all. It's so weird. Some days he naps twice, sometimes he naps 3 times. I try to go with the flow. I'm learning to not procrastinate. If I need something done by Thursday night, I can't leave it until Thursday to do. I need to plan ahead more so that the unpredictability doesn't overwhelm me (otherwise the stress does overwhelm me and it isn't pretty). I also have found that 11am is a great time for us to go out for errands, etc. It breaks up the day nicely but doesn't interefere with feeding, napping, etc. I will mourn the loss of the bucket seat when that day comes because it'll make napping on the go much less easy.
GTKY: Halloween plans? LO has a costume. My bestie is coming over to "trick or treat" with us -- we're really just going to the neighbors to show off. I'll make chili or something and Halloween cupcakes.
