HI everyone...I am SO sorry for how long it has taken for me to write about my baby boy's birth story, but I am seriously EXHAUSTED, and just returned to work so I am even finding less time to do things (shame on me, I know!)...
But needless to say, our beautiful little guy, Elijah Chase (Chase was the name of the son we lost last year), and he is perfect...aside from the major crying, LOL!
He arrived July 21st (yes, I know, it has been too long!), and was 9 days early (thankfully! I was getting at the end of my rope!)...Labor was supposed to be shorter than my daughter's (24 hours), but needless to say, he didn't come that much quicker. Started Labor on the 20th around 8 PM, and he arrived around 4 PM on the 21st.
I only had 2 pushes with him, as opposed to 2 hours with my little gal, but the labor was very tiring and long.
The first nurse we had was an older woman who was NOT happy to be there in the middle of the evening, and actually gave me attitude! Yes! a woman in labor received attitude from the nurse at L&D! she hurt me when checking my cervix, and as I screamed, said 'nothing'...not even an 'I'm sorry'. then, I asked for Tums b/c of my reflux, and she went to go get them...however, I didn't need them by the time she arrived (I got sick! ugh! but felt better), and AGAIN, gave me attitude since she already inputted the info. into the system for the medicine. SERIOUSLY?
and when I was about to become sick as I knew it was any minute now, she told me to 'hold off' so she could get me the proper item to use...I said, 'NO, I'm using the garbage, if I have to!'...she responded, "I'd rather you didn't"...um, yeah, b/c that is something I have control over!
UGH! But needless to say, by 7 AM, her shift ended (whew! My husband was one more nasty comment away from telling the lady to get lost!), and the next few nurses were AMAZING.
Had one issue with the anesthesiologist (yes, I asked for the drugs!) as she yelled at me when my body jerked from a sensation that was caused by the injection...she made me cry:( the nurse totally understood and agreed that the dr. (a FEMALE dr., no less...why are the women so much colder?!) should have warned me about what I'd be feeling so my body would be prepared! but again, no apology after screaming at me.
and at one point, I felt lightheaded and dizzy so my husband ran to get the nurses...she came with the Oxygen mask as my BP was very low for some reason, and it made me feel better...super scary, though.
ok, and the light at the end is that my special precious boy arrived around 4 PM on the 21st weighing 6 lbs, 4 oz, and 18 inches in length, and has been keeping us on our toes every since! I am WAITING for him to sleep through the night (any advice?! I don't remember this much trouble with my daughter!) ugh!
I attached a couple pics (they're older as they were done a week or so after his birth, but I think they're appropriate since I'm going over his birth story, LOL!
one final thought...thank you ALL for your kindness, compassion, and true sympathy to what I had been through last year...this was an amazing forum, and I am so lucky to have been a part of it. I hope all of you bring home your Rainbow babies very soon!!! XOXO
