AW & Question: Pregnant Bride

I'm getting married in December - we've been engaged for almost two years, and finally set the date this spring after my recovery from my loss. It was a really wonderful thing to look forward to when I was feeling lost in darkness.

And now I'm going to be a pregnant bride! A whole new level of excitement and EEK just came into my wedding planning.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had a wedding while expecting. I'll be at the 20 week mark then, so I expect I'll be showing at least a little, and I anticipate being a little uncomfortable. Does anyone have tips, advice, horror stories to share?

And just for maximum AW value- this picture of me and mother, just after we unboxed her wedding dress for the first time since her wedding. She's trying out her veil on me.

  • @Smilz4782‌ - yes I too am worried about watching friends and family enjoy their booze and just...feeling ick myself. I think we are going to try to keep the reception short and sweet so I can enjoy it!

  • @coffeeismylyfe‌ - thank you! My sister snapped this picture when we were obviously distracted and she just sent it to me today. Surprised it turned out so nicely- usually I'm making some kind of bizarre pause face in candids. :p

  • I friend of mine got married this year at 25 weeks pregnant, and she looked amazing! They now make some really cute maternity wedding gowns, so I wouldn't worry too much about how you'll look. GL and congrats!

    Thank you! Any chance you know where your friend got her dress, or who the designer was?

  • She went to David's Bridal. Here is the one she chose. HTH!
  • Congratulations 2xs. I love the photo, and the fact that you're trying on your mother's veil is so sweet. Is it a mantilla?

    Congrats! I was 32 weeks when I got married and was pregnant with DS. It wasn't big or extravagant. My dress was so tight and I didn't even end up wearing the beautiful shoes I bought. I was uncomfortable and exhausted at the reception, but I made it through. Lucky for you, you will only be 20 weeks. That's a perfect time because you won't be huge and uncomfortable. You will probably be more tired, uncomfortable, and achey than normal, but you picked a great time. Make sure you have a good seamstress on hand at the last minute in case you finally 'pop'. I'm sure it'll be wonderful. Good luck!

    Eta- I planned my wedding in a month and went to Davids Bridal for my dress. It was very flowy and didn't make me look huge.

  • @amelandre - thank you!  I checked out their website and do indeed see some dresses that may work.

    @lgsdesigner - that's gorgeous.  :)

    @allybells - sounds lovely.  I kind of wish right now that we hadn't put in motion the wedding plans, but only a little bit.  I'm just worried about being exhausted on the day, and so sometimes thinking about just a trip to the courthouse sounds so much easier!  Congrats on your wedding, too. :)

    @queenhoneybee - it's not a mantilla but it's a similar style.  It was hand-made by my godmother!

    @GFJ48 - thank you! :)

    @ambarnett1 - awww, I'm sorry you were so uncomfortable.  My good friend from college is officiating and he's a tailor, so I'm covered for last minute alterations!  Thanks for the good wishes.  :)

  • My fiancée and I were planing a semi elopement in Hawaii in February. Just family and a couple friends. Three weeks after we bought tickets, started wedding planning bam! We find out I'm pregnant. I'm thrilled but that dream dress I wanted is out of question. Oh well, looks like I will be about 26 weeks along saying I do on a beach. After seven years together at least we got plenty of time just the two of us.
  • @spoodry What a lovely place/way to have a wedding!  Think of it this way, if the water's warm enough, you can swim and float and feel relief from carrying the baby around.  ;)  Good luck with your plans and congratulations!
