Have you tried to count the kicks? I've noticed that mine goes in stages. Some days it's really active and won't be still and other days I barely feel it. However, when I drink a glass of water and count the kicks I can count the 10 kicks in less than 10 minutes. My doc said as long as I can count 10 kicks in an hour after having a glass of ice water and laying down, that everything should be fine.
How do you do kick counts. I was up all night waiting for a kick
My doctor said that you can wait until you feel movement and then count the number of kicks in an hour. Ideally you'd like to see at least 10, but it can be a bit more or less. She recommended starting at 28 weeks and doing it once in the morning and once in the afternoon. She also suggested having a cold drinking and laying down if to see if movement picks up.
Your doctor may have a different recommendation. And if you are concerned it all, you should call your doctor. You're right - it doesn't hurt to ask!
Mine has slowed down a lot lately.. It was almost constant before but now it will go a few hours without any movement. Still kicking lots when it is, but taking more breaks.
Also, there are apps you get for your phone to do kick counts. It's kind of nice because you can see the last several times you've done it all in one place.
Also remember that the sensations won’t be as sharp and noticeable as your pregnancy progresses and the baby has less room to move around.
This is what made me nervous - I had regular karate sessions going on for awhile, and now the movements seem smaller and more subtle. But when I did a kick count, we got 10 movements in under 2 minutes, so I guess I am just used to a very active little kicker.
I've been noticing over the last couple days that he's way more active at night now than during the day. Before, it was an all day affair...and sometimes, it still is lol, but at nighttime this little booger wants to party! Try and see if you can get a sense of when you feel more movement. But, I will also echo the other ladies and say call your doctor if you're worried. They most likely will have you come in and do a doppler check.
