Working Moms

Intro and daycare "not" napping issue

Hello! Starting out with an intro... I'm 28 and a working mama. My DD is 6 months old and goes to an at home daycare three days a week. Our major struggle is she will NOT nap at daycare and comes home miserable and ready for bed, yet naps at home like a charm! Anyone else have this issue? Also added a picture of our little pumpkin not enjoying our Pinterest fail.

Re: Intro and daycare "not" napping issue

  • I agree with K3am, when I went back to work with my first and we switched him from a nanny to a daycare it took about a month or so for him to adjust, he was miserable but eventually adapted.

  • She started September 3... So almost two months. Thanks though, I will wait it out!

  • I agree with K3am and with DS, who also went part time, it took even longer.  Hopefully she'll get into the routine soon!

  • We have this issue.  She has been in daycare full time since July.  It got a little tiny bit better, then got worse again.  A good day at daycare is now 2 30 minute naps, but more often then not it is just one 20-30 minute nap.  We have tried everything, but nothing works.  She is super nosey and needs to know what everyone is doing all the time, so trying to nap in a crib where she can see/hear other babies just doesn't work.  She is handling the lack of sleep a little better than she did at first so she normally isn't a total mess when she comes home most days.
  • Thank you @tricia560‌ she was not having it with that pumpkin! Hopefully it will get better, I will just stay positive! It can only go up from here. :o) thanks ladies

  • Mine's the same. She sleeps in the car most nights home which helps. I struggle with what to do at times as well...
  • Mine goes to daycare part time and maybe naps 1-2 hrs total a day while there. They're often 30 minutes here and there. She's been there for over 5 months, so it's not gonna change. She falls asleep in the car ride home and I have to put her down for the night within the hour.
She takes two 2 hour naps at home. I'm just dealing with it because she only goes twice a week and I feel like that's part of the problem. She doesn't have enough time to get used to nap environment there. :(
  • mine naps better at DC than she does at home, she goes to DC full time and naps there 3 times. Each nap is between 45 mins to 1 hr and 20 mins.

at home though in the weekend or if she skips nursery one day she'd stay up with cat naps and then takes a really long one nap in the afternoon and would be cranky all day and it's a fight to get her to nap every time, I dont know what they do at DC to get her to sleep like that...thinking about that now I'm going to ask today!
