GD/Baby Movement question

So I have been on the GD diet since Thursday. I used to feel the baby bouncing around all day, but her movement has significantly decreased since cutting carbs and sugar. Tonight I couldn't finish a kick count, so I called the OB and went in and did a NST (of course she couldn't stop moving once they hooked me up). I used to always be able to get her moving if I drank some juice or Sprite, but those are now off limits. Have any other Team GD ladies had a similar experience with decreased movement? Any new tricks to get baby moving?

ETA - I just realized I'm a dumbass for not posting in GD check in. We all get one, right?

  • Ditto ice water- it seems to always work for me

  • Ice for sure! Either eat some ice or put s small cold pack on your belly for a minute.
  • I'm with PPs, Ice water. Hot tea works for me as well, extremes in temperature I guess?

  • I don't have GD, but cutting out sugar and having a less active baby makes sense.  All the same it must be really scary - Hope the ice water works :)

If you're doing a kick count and it's low are you allowed to have a mini candy bar?  I know you're supposed to cut those things out, but in situations where it's either get the kid moving or go to the Dr will they allow it?  It would obviously be after you try ice water  and laying on left side.  Then again, I'm pretty ignorant concerning GD so this might be the worst suggestion ever.  If so, I'm sorry!

  • Yeah, ice water usually works but this is the first time it didn't (hence I went in). @nauticallife‌ - I have my regular OB appointment Wednesday and I am definitely going to ask. My glucose has been well below the threshold since I have been testing, so hopefully they will give me some leeway. Thank you all for the suggestions ladies!

  • Yea I just started the GD diet last Thursday and I notice this too. Some days he really active now but then I have days where he is moving less since switching to the diet. However I notice if I'm relaxing and drink some cold water he starts moving a lot.

  • Yes, ice water. DD1 was very laid back and didn't like to move for her nonstress tests, so ice water was the first course of action to get her moving. That and poking my belly.

You may just have a laid back kiddo. :)
