Any babies with sleep regression?

I need some sleep! My previously average and normal sleeping baby has been waking up around 5 am most nights for the past month.  I figured he must be hungry, and since he's underweight,  I just give him a bottle and put him right back down and he'd sleep till 7:30 or 8am.   Over the last 2 weeks he's been crying on and off throughout the night and has been waking up screaming around 3am.  When I go to get him he's wide awake. I change him, give him a bottle and pretty much make no eye contact with him, but he's still wide awake for about 30 minutes then he starts to get sleepy again and I put him back down.  Anyone else going through this?

  • Sort of. DS has been sick off and on between allergies and some other stuff so most of it I contribute to that. However it seems like since he was around 10 months old he will only sleep all night a few times a week. We have no idea what is going on but it is driving me crazy. Hang in there!

  • Yes. Started this weekend. He fights going to sleep like it is his job. And he has been waking around 4 am when he usually sleeps until 7:30 am. He will not go back to sleep. Today he finally conked back out at 7. He was so sleepy he was stumbling all over his room. Luckily my mom watches him, so I had her come down so he could sleep and I left for work. He slept until 10 today after his early morning rising. I did look it up and he is on the cusp of a "wonder week". Ironic??

  • Teeth or ear infection? Waking up screaming sounds like pain to me, or that's how I interpret it. If mine is waking up just for shits and giggles, he usually doesn't scream.

  • We have had crappy sleep since about 7 months, but this week is the worst because she's not going down via just popping a boob in her mouth for 10 minutes like normal. Instead it's a 30+ minute ordeal, nursing both sides multiple times, waking upas soon I lay her back down and repeat. My nipples are beyond sore. She looks like she's getting het two top front teeth, and her second canine just poked through (vampire baby!) Plus I think she's on the verge of walking. She toddles around just holding 1 finger now, and stands not holding anything for a few seconds. I am hoping once we get through these milestones we can maaaaaaybe see her sleep tgrough the night (its been a long time since I got a uninterrupted nights sleep, over 6 months. ) I'm starting my 4 weeks of night shift for the first time ever and I am hoping she's sleeping better before then for her and DH's sake!

  • We dropped the two naps and went to one long one and the waking up early in the morning went away. But DD was ready to drop the two naps...she was fighting naps, barely sleeping during them, and stopped sleeping in the car.

DS has pretty much always done the 5 am wake up thing and I nurse him and he sleeps til scout 7. I have noticed that he has started to protest when I lay him down like he doesn't want me to leave which I think is normal for this age. He fusses/cries for maybe a min and then settles in for sleep.
We did the not wanting to sleep unless being held thing last week on vacation. He would scream if I put him down, but wanted to play if I tried to side lying nurse so I could sleep too. It was a long and not relaxing vacation! :-q

  • Sleep regression here too. Started late last week. L is up for an hour or two whining and fussing every night. I hope it passes soon!

  • Ugh yes! I actually got an email today from What to Expect about toddler night wakings. Both of ours have been waking up crying at 11:30 for about a week now. Just had their check up last Friday and no ear infections or other ailments. They are teething but I don't think that's it.

I unfortunately just think it's a developmental stage as I have noticed they are much more clingy in general as well. They will typical fall asleep when I'm holding them then as soon as I transition back to the crib BAM! wide awake!

    It can't last forever right??!!???!!

  • Also, 55 weeks is a wonder week. I find it's helpful to know when these are so I can reassure myself it's temporary :-)
  • I feel bad that we are all suffering, but if feels great to know I'm not alone! Thanks girls

  • We are having one too, but I think it's because of our recent move. We sold our house and moved in with my parents until we find a new house. We were consistently having 1 wake up a night. The last week has been at least 2 a night and early wake ups. I'm hoping he adjusts soon. I'm exhausted!
