1st Birthday Party Ideas

So Finn is turning 1 in about 5 weeks, yikes, and I am starting to plan his party. Anyone do anything fun for their little ones 1st birthday? We are having it at our house, inviting about 25 people, and need a theme of some sort. I am totally drawing a blank! My mom suggested hearts since it is on the 14th of Feb but I think that would be cute for a girl, not a boy!

Also, anyone have any suggestions as to where I can get a cake and a mini cake for him to have on his own?

Re: 1st Birthday Party Ideas

  • If you wanted to do something Valentine-ish, you could do "love bug" and do little bugs?  That's slightly more manly than hearts, lol

If you didn't want to do anything valentine's related.... you could do fish, jungle, etc.  or just pick a color scheme and have everything match.  I would look for some invitations and get inspiration from there.

  • The love bug is cute! I need to do the invitations for sure, I am trying to decide whether or not to make my own (like on scrapblog.com) or be cheap and buy some!

  • does he remind you of any animals?  does he climb all over the place?  You could do a monkey theme.  Jax used to sleep on my like a frog...so there is a frog theme...

Not sure about the cake thing.  I am going to use Honeymoon Bakery, but they are in Rome.  Best. Cakes. Ever.

  • We're in the process of getting everything together for Sean's party. I decided to skip a theme (other than the obvious 1st bday) this year because I didn't want to use one (ie. trains) and then next year when he's REALLY into trains or something, tell him he can't have that as his party them since we did it last year.

I'm buying a cake for Sean to use as a smash cake and my mom is making a cake for the adults to eat. We're having it at 3pm on a Sunday and serving cake and ice cream.

I'm making these mini photo books as "favors" since we're only having family (they're the ones for $3.88 at the bottom of the page).

  • Have a ball pit. It's a big hit for 1st bday parties. Several nestie momma's had one for their lil ones party.
  • I am in the process of planning Evie's and I feel like I have gotten WAY behind. ? I should be getting invites out soon and I have no idea what to do. ?I have an idea, but I don't know where to get them made...

I wanted her theme to be all of her monthly pictures, ?pictures on the invite, pictures on balloons, etc. ?That said, we went way over budget on Xmas and New years so I have to scale back. ? I am probably not going to do a theme and just make it a fun day for her and her friends. ?Also, its only going to be like two hours long because of nap schedules, so I really don't want to throw all my money away on a 2 hour party. ? ? ?

  • I just picked an invitation that i really liked and the theme evolved from there.

ie.  Ava's invite had flowers and birds on it, so I went with a flowers/bird theme in the same colors as the invite..
