I'm back from vacation... I had every intention of checking in with you lovely ladies, but just totally unplugged while I was gone... and it felt good.  I did miss you though, so fill me in :-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are a group of women striving to live healthier lives, whether that means losing weight, gaining weight, sticking to a specific diet, counting calories, avoiding counting calories, starting to exercise, continuing to exercise or anything in between.
We check in on Mondays and follow up with an accountability on Fridays (our favorite post of the week, because we love encouraging each other and celebrating all our successes!).
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Many of us are using MyFitnessPal to keep track of our eating and our exercise. MFP is a great tool to keep yourself accountable, and because it is set up as a social network site, we can cheer you on there as well as here. If you are using MFP and have not found us yet, let us know so we can friend you!
Re: Healthy Living Check-in... I'm back :-)
  • @MrsG80inTN - Hey lady!!! :-h Glad to see you back! I missed you.
    The Good: I'm maintaining and still getting my workouts in. And, I think I've found something that has cut down on my migraines/vertigo attacks.
    The Bad: The scale hasn't moved due to two weekends of not-so-great eating.
    The Proud: I'm in the home stretch of my 9-week program with only 8 workouts left. I've chosen my next workout program and am anxious to do something different!
    Your Plan: Try to eat better and get out of the "I've lost weight so I can eat _____" way of thinking.
    Question(s) of the week: Do you prefer to "lay out" on the beach or walk on the beach? (I'm still on vacation brain!) I prefer to lay out. I honestly hate walking in the sand. Although, walking on the boardwalk with a nice breeze is heaven!
  • I'm just going to list the bad, the proud and the plan because there really hasn't been any good.
    The Bad: I have been sick for over a week and haven't done anything. My eating was atrocious because of being sick.
    The Proud: I lost another lb, but that could be due to being sick. So I am only slightly celebrating.
    The Plan: Get eating back on track. I'm still not feeling great, but at least better than last week.
    QOTW: I prefer to walk along the beach in the surf. That way the sand isn't too hot and it's relaxing.
  • @MrsG80inTN Thanks for the check in.  Good for you for unplugging!  I have trouble doing that on vacation!
    :)
    @rmpar29 What have you found to cut down on vertigo?  I get crazy dizziness a lot.  What's your next work out plan?
    @tigerlynx31413 I'm sorry that you have been sick.  Feeling any better?
    @Km380 Wooo!  Alright 2 pounds!  Good job.
    :D
    @linkloveszelda26 Drinking  a lot of water and eating home cooked food is great!  Keep it up!
    @furrypaws At least you got your exercise in, which is great!  Hopefully your tracking will be better this week.
    :)
    The Good: It's a new week and the junk food is gone
    The Bad: a friend came over last Friday and needed some serious drinking/junk food time, so too much crap came into the house. And because there was a bunch leftover, the crap was eaten all weekend.
    The Proud: I exercised some...
    Your Plan: The next time a friend needs to have junk food time, I'm making popcorn.
    Question(s) of the week: Do you prefer to "lay out" on the beach or walk on the beach? (I'm still on vacation brain!) I prefer to swim. I like walking as well...but I also like to lay on the beach and read. I guess I am saying that I have no preference.
  • @Menrandes‌ unfortunately I still don't feel too good. DH caught this almost two weeks before me, and he still has a lingering cough after almost 3 weeks. I am only on week 2 and the cough started this weekend. I'd be alright if it didn't trigger at bedtime.
    @Menrandes - I was reading up on the connection between migraines and exercise.  Turns out, low blood sugar can cause the migraines/headaches and dizziness.  Since I work out first thing in the morning, I don't have time to eat an hour beforehand.  So, I've been taking glucose tablets to get my blood sugar up before exercising.  So far, so good!  Next program I'm going to try is Focus T25 by Sean T.  They are very intense work-outs but only 25 minutes long.  I'm sure that I won't be able to keep up the high intensity for the whole workout, but one person in the videos has modified it for a lower intensity.  That, I can do!  ;)
    I know what you mean about those junk food times.  Once it's in the house, it's hard to turn away from it.
  • We've missed you @MrsG80inTN!  Hope you had a wonderful vacation!
    THE GOOD: Not much....we're still working on our house, so I've been using muscles I'm not used to, but eating out way too much because we don't have time to go grocery shopping or cook.
    THE BAD:  Eating out.
    THE PROUD:  We're almost done with all of our painting!  Carpet is going in on Thursday.  Moving day is set for this Saturday!
    THE PLAN:  Can't even think about a plan at this point until after we're moved in.
    QOTW:  I'd have to say walking on the beach.  I'd rather lay poolside, with plenty of sunscreen on, like @furrypaws, than get sand in places sand should not be.  ;)
  • @rmpar29 – Missed you too J  I’m glad you are maintaining and finding something to cut down on your migraines/vertigo has to be worth a pot of gold!!!!!  I understand the mindset you’ve found yourself in and I think your plan is good.
    tigerlynx31413 – Sorry there hasn’t been much good.  Losing is great though, but I’m sorry you’re sick.  Being sick is always rough on healthy living.  Just do what you can!
    @km380 – Vacay was great – thanks for asking.  I didn’t realize you were going to do Weight Watchers.  I think it’s a great program!  Congrats on the weight loss.  Keep it up!!!!!
    linkloveszelda26 – Way to go on keeping the sweets at bay!!!!  That’s awesome.  What kinds of workout dvds are you doing?
    @furrypaws – I’m with you on the must track food!!!!  We gathered a lot of shells last week – it was fun.
    @menrandes – popcorn is usually a good not so junk food for me… so is fat free pudding.  I understand eating all the leftovers too.  UGH!  This is a new week and youv’e got this!
    AFM…
    The Good: I started a strict diet back this morning and did a workout this morning…
    The Bad: Everything about my eating… and the scale which is up 10# BOOOOOO!
    The Proud: I haven’t veered off my diet today despite having M&Ms tucked into my purse…
    Your Plan: I’m doing a 5 day detox/low-carb type diet and then going back to my regular diet, but being more strict with it.  I’m also restarting T25 exercise DVDs and am going to do strength workouts at lunch.
    Question(s) of the week: Do you prefer to "lay out" on the beach or walk on the beach? (I'm still on vacation brain!) – I like to lay out and read, but my husband doesn’t so we wind up going for walks… We did 2 miles every day which was really nice for both of us.  Of course, the last day we found a sand dollar (really little one) and I promptly broke it when we got in the car.  I was so sad.
  • Hello everyone! I've been a super bad bumpie lately and I'm really sorry!
    The Good: I have been eating better now that we are home, and working on getting the hang of being gluten free.
    The Bad: Last week I was out of town, so we ate out a lot. Ugh!
    The Proud:I didn't gain any weight, but I didn't loose any either.
    Your Plan: Gluten Free and get in some more exercise.
    Question(s) of the week: Do you prefer to "lay out" on the beach or walk on the beach? SS!!! I love to swim. Can't lay out, cause I burn. But will walk on the beach.
  • @elliecat17 – How is gluten free going for you?  Did you determine you wanted to do GF because of PCOS or something else??
    @amybunny30 – I’m with you on the moving on.  J  Kitchen renovations make life hard so I’m glad you’re on the other side of that!!!!  Sounds like you have a good plan.  Hopefully you can get your MIL to realize what’s up quickly… I have the same problem with my MIL.
    @mrskush1014 – YAY for painting being almost done.  I hope that lets you get settled soon.  Moving is always so crazy, but oh so fun!
  • @MrsG80inTN nope because I was diagnosed with Hashimotos and also gluten allergies. No one has given me any info on how to manage the PCOS or the Hashi's. So I'm just going what I can. I'm really annoyed with my OB practice right now. I'm sure part of it is because my Ob's case load was passed off to another in the practice since she is out on maternity leave. I'm hoping that Friday leads to a referral to the RE and maybe some more answers. Any advice would be very welcome though!
  • @powerofbacon - little steps is the way to go.  Just make one right choice and then another and before you know it you'll be back on track.
    @elliecat17 - I've never been given any diet restrictions for my hashimotos... I know that for endometriosis gluten free seems to help many people and I know that the more weight I lose the better my thyroid numbers seem to be, but I haven't restricted things due to any of my DX.  My RE seemed to recommend a low glycemic diet in general for fertility so I'm going to try and just stick to being really good with my diet as I have been before (just not in the last 6 weeks or so)...
