Secondary IF

IUI Success??

I am on IUI cycle #3 with gonal-f and trigger. Ovulated both previous cycles but no BFP. As I'm sure we have all felt, I go through these really positive "everything is going to be great" moments and then these terrible "Its never going to happen" moments. Of course the more it doesn't work, the more reading I do on Secondary IF and what does work. Earlier this week I read up on IUI and realized the success rate is like 20%... I found it super discouraging.
I was hoping someone has some of you may have your own IUI success stories and was hoping for some positive vibes!!

You'll probably get a better response if you post this on PAIF or SAIF I'm sure a lot of people were successful with IUI, this board is primarily ladies that are still trying, but you may get a few responses from people that had success from primary IF.

I can relate to all those feelings. I've tried two IUIs myself, and I was very hopeful, then very let down when they didn't work.

    Good luck.

  • That's why we ended up moving to IVF quicker than we thought. If we were going to be paying all that money I wanted it to be more than a 20% chance.

Yeah, unfortunately here you'll get a lot of us who can commiserate with you in still being unsuccessful. We had three failed IUIs (2 BFN and 1 Chemical Preg) and out fourth IUI just got cancelled. I think out next step is IVF but we have to set up a consult.

    Best of luck to you!

  • Yup I feel you. I have had a couple chemicals and miscarriages on our own but medicated IUIs had multiple eggs and NOTHING! All I can think is what the heck?!

  • I'm currently in the 2WW for IUI #3, and on to IVF if it didn't work.  Like @sailorgal, I had multiple eggs (multiple follicles, at least) each time and couldn't believe that none of them were good.

However, I'm old.  I really hope you have better luck.  FX!

  • We are on our 3rd cycle of IUI and if this doesn't work then we meet with the RE to discuss our next steps. It is discouraging when you have good follicles and good sperm counts and it still doesn't work! Good luck with your cycle.
