Just wait for the insane LOVE that you feel for your little one. I loved DD as an inside baby, but the love I felt for her in those first days, weeks, months totally caught me by surprise. It was like nothing I've ever experienced. It hit me like a freight train and still sometimes takes my breath away. DH sometimes says he's worried he'll eat her he loves her so much! I'm having a hard time imagining ever loving another being as much, but I know if I just wait it will happen all over again!
Just wait until you hear them laugh for the first time, and you turn into the most ridiculous version of yourself just to try to get one more giggle out of them.
Just wait until the first time someone compliments you on your child's manners or behavior in public. Such a proud moment!
Just wait until you see little bits of yourself in your child whether it be looks, personality, or both, and you think, "Was I ever that beautiful and perfect?" You may just start to see yourself in a whole different light.
Just wait until you see your DH with your baby - love!
Oh yes. The fact that DH loves our daughter just as much as I do is almost too much for my heart to handle. This picture taken at the hospital will forever be one of my favorite pictures. I'm sure I've posted it before. ::heart explodes::
Just wait til you are the only one that can make it all better! Last week, while I was in L&D, DS was crying at bedtime. My hubby face timed me, I sang lullabies and we did our nightly prayers. Little guy actually calmed down and clapped and swayed while I sang. It melted me! Just wait for more love than you knew could exist!
5 IUIs and an IVF
It's all worth it for Baby Boy, born 9/30/13!
What do you know, Baby Girl just popped up! Due 1/2/15
Just wait for that first car ride home from the hospital, and the first time you walk through your doors as a family. So nervous and exciting. The first time you find out those books don't know everything, and you've got this! The first day they go to school and that mix of pride and tears because you never wanted to imagine your day without them, and then they come home full of smiles and stories! You didn't think you could love them more than you already did, but just that little bit of independence makes your heart swell even more. With every first, as their world opens up even more you never knew you could have love like this.
For those that need to go back to work, reluctantly or non-reluctantly, just you wait until you start picking your LO up from daycare or the sitter and you get the biggest smiles! It makes the work day all worth it!
That was a beautiful article. I love that it turned "just wait" into a positive thing.
Just wait until your little one starts reaching different milestones and learning new things. My DS just recently started clapping, waving goodbye and playing "so big"- it's the best! My heart swells with so much pride with each and every one of his tiny accomplishments. The amount of joy and excitement my sweet boy brings me everyday is indescribable. Being a mom is amazing- you just wait!
Just wait until that moment when you realize that it doesn't matter how tired, or stressed, or sick, or whatever you are - you will be able to always answer that baby's call because you have a well of strength far, far deeper than you know.
Just wait until the first time your little baby comforts you. Amazing.
Just wait until you see your husband, parents, siblings, etc. with your little one. Truly heartwarming.
Just wait until you get to share traditions, games, toys and locations you loved in your childhood with your little one and it feels like you are living your childhood and his/hers all at once.
Being a mom is the most amazing, difficult, rewarding, enriching and wonderful experience. Just wait.
Just wait for that first kiss from LO to you. That big, open mouth, wet and sloppy kiss right on your lips. There are so many amazing "just waits", but this is by far one of my favorites.
Just wait until their hair is long enough to give them a shampoo mohawk in the bath and they put bubbles on their chin to make a Santa beard.
Just wait until they pick you a bouquet of pretty flowers (dandelions) when you take them outside to play.
Just wait until they start drawing pictures and telling you the story of what is going on in the picture.
Just wait until they take the hand of a younger sibling who is just learning to walk and patiently walk with them.
Just wait until you catch them "reading" a book that they have memorized to a younger sibling or stuffed animal. I walked back the hallway one evening and found both my boys snuggled in my bed, the older one repeating the Very Hungry Caterpillar to his little brother.
Just wait until you take them to their first movie at the theater and they think it's the coolest thing ever.
I'm totally tearing up. One of the "just waits" I'm so looking forward to is seeing my girls together for the first time and then watching their relationship grow into (hopefully) something awesome.
Just wait until someday, you'll be out in public and someone will have been watching your child (in this case it was my husband with DD), and they'll show up where you are and you'll get a similar response:
*gasp* MOMMY! *runs and hugs you in front of EVERYONE*
I guess it's maybe sometimes a little embarrassing, but it always seems to make me, DD, and all the spectators happy.
I gave birth in a hospital that had you stay in a different room than the birthing room. So we were wheeled to the room we would be in for the rest of the stay. I labored for a while so baby and I were exhausted. But I sang the same song I sang to him while in the womb after we got settled. He opened his eyes and watched me sing to him. I swear to this day that he recognized my voice only an hour or so after birth. I get happy years everytime I think of it!!!
Just wait until their personality begins to show. I takes some time, but watching them blossom into a totally unique human being is just awe inspiring.
Just wait until one day at the park when they look back at you and say "No Mom, I do it on my own" and in that moment you are insanely proud of how independent they have become.
Just wait until after a long hard day, they wrap their arms tight around you and say "I miss you today"
Just wait until you realize that you love them even more than you did the day before and the day before that and the day before that. Your child will give to you the capacity to love so freely and so much.
Just wait until your you look at your baby at some point through the frustration, exhaustion and everything else and realize how beautiful they are. And then an overwhelming love comes over you and you actually cry.
Also wait until you feel like you are failing and then you end up being the only person to get the baby to calm down. You will feel so extremely triumphant.
(mine us all male pronouns since i have a boy already.)
just wait until you hold him up against your chest and you breathe deep that first whiff of baby-smell. OMG. (that one sounds a little creepy, but seriously...baby smell.)
just wait till, when your little baby is a "big boy" (like, 3+), and you go to check on him before going to bed, and you see the baby once again, and can't resist kissing that round cheek while he sleeps.
just wait till you see his face when he takes his first steps, or goes down a slide for the first time, or goes for his first swing on a real swing set. just wait for all those firsts and milestones. you'll be just as excited as he is.
and personally, even though i'm a STM, i'm all teary and everything thinking of this:
Just wait until you see your DH with your baby - love!
Just wait until LO says "I love you," "I want a hug," or "Bless you, Mommy" when you sneeze.
This is a great article, and I love the idea or focusing on the positive.
i never got to see LH with DS...watching SO cultivate a father-son relationship with DS over the past three years has been amazing, but i've still never gotten to see that picture of the man i love with the baby he helped create cradled against him, and i've longed for it. that may be what i'm looking forward to the most.
and all the unbolded is awesome too...especially the "bless you" part, just because you kind of expect to hear "i love you" and "can i have a hug" at some point, but those other cute moments catch you a little more off-guard.
oh, and just wait till the first time you hear your baby fart while napping over the monitor. it's so cute and funny at the same time. lol

Oh man, so much cuteness here! What a great way to start a Monday!!! I have a couple of my own to add.
Just wait - until LO figures out that some little thing they do make you giggle & then does it constantly just to put a smile on your face!!
Just wait - until you find yourself checking on your LO every night when they're sleeping. At first, it's because you want to make sure they're still breathing, but then later, because you just need that last little fix of cuteness before you go to bed yourself!
Just wait - until your own vocabulary (or pet's name) changes because that's how they say it. (Daycare's cat is Zoe, but it's since been changed to Yo-Yo because that's how DS says it)
Myles was so pumped about the baby . . . until he figured out he'd have to share all his toys!!!
I always try to tell first time moms how amazing the experience will be. We've definitely had our moments but nothing compares to when we are sitting together and my 2.5 year old puts her hand on my arm and says "Mom, I'm just happy." Just you wait for all the joy and love you are in for! It makes all the hard days beyond worth it.
It is ALL worth it! Seriously, everything. There is so much to look forward to.
Just wait...
Until you hold this tiny being and are completely overcome with a love like you have never known.
Until you will give up sleep just to watch this beautiful little creature sleep.
Until you are the only one who can comfort them or calm them.
Until they light up just because you walked into the room.
Until you are overcome with pride when they accomplish something new.
Until you hear that little voice.
Until they can say Mama.
Until they curl into you when they are sleeping and you feel as content and happy as you could ever possibly feel.
Until they can wrap chubby arms around your neck and give you a hug.
Until they can say I love you back.
Until they start drawing you pictures of the two of you together.
Until they become these wonderful little people right before your eyes and you are so full of pride that you get choked up.
Seriously, it is the most wonderful, wonderful thing to get to be a mother. They trust you so much, love you so much, need you so much. There are hard days for sure but when it comes down to it there is nothing that I value more than my sweet girl and there is nothing that has ever made me feel as complete, as happy or as truly myself as being her mom.

Just wait for the morning you go get him/her from the crib and you hear "hi mommy!"

you hear that very first cry!
The first time they fall asleep in your arms!
Watching them try lemon for the very first time!! Or jello!
When they first start to babble!
Every single day you get to spend with the best thing(s) you've ever accomplished in your life!

jan'15 january siggy challenge: baby fails
As a STM, it made my day to read through so many of these Just You Wait's. I'd forgotten about some of them. Can't wait to do it all over again!
