Rib Pain While Sleeping?

It's nothing too severe, and I'm not really concerned about it from a medical/health standpoint, but I'm curious if anyone else gets weird, sharp pains in their ribs while sleeping?  It almost feels like a charlie horse or a pinch if I try to move positions during the night, and usually on one side? Anyone else?  I thought my ribs would have finished expanding by now, but who knows.

I know this is a medical-ish question, but I'm not worried about it from a health perspective, since it just feels like a muscle pull.  I plan on asking my doctor about it, but more for my curiosity that anything else.

  • Yea, I'm sure it's just a combination of my ribs expanding and all my organs/muscles getting squished. I feel like when it happens at night, I tell myself I'm going to google around and find out what it is, but by the time I wake up and get to a computer I feel like it's NBD.  Plus googling "pregnancy chest pain" is not a fun way to spend your morning when you know that it's nothing serious.
  • How about rib pains like all of the time?

  • Yep! Started a week ago I guess. 99% of the time it's on my left side, and it's usually worse after a nap than when I sleep a full night. Like my uterus is sitting on my ribs.

  • I get them occassionally, I roll over and it's gone. I just figure baby doesn't like that position, kicks me to move, and then we settle in until baby is uncomfortable again.

  • I actually talked to my dr about this this morning! I've had sharp rib pain for weeks, all day, only on the left. He said it's more worrisome on the right due to the organs on that side. But with pregnancy the ribs are spreading and usually causing discomfort. In my case because it's been happening for a while, my doctor also thinks our little squirt is just kicking me there as well.

Hurts like a bitch, but apparently will go away as soon as LO is here so at least there is hope! Lol
  • I wake up feeling sore, like i'm bruised from the inside...probably from all the punching and kicking from baby. Told my OB this morning, he said it'll get worse then sore later. Lol gotta appreciate his dry sense of humor.
