Balancing Act

Is anyone else having a hard time eating a balanced diet, fruits and veggies just aren't appetizing to me. I used to be somewhat on the healthy side before I got pregnant, now I feel all the weight I'm gaining (15 weeks) is due to poor food choices.. Any suggestions on how to be more balanced from here on out?

Re: Balancing Act

  • Thanks for the suggestion, I know I shouldn't be worried about what my body looks like cuz it's all about a healthy baby. I just want to make sure I'm giving him or her all the right nutrition. But I also wouldn't mind not having extra extra weight to lose post partem.

  • Be kind to yourself. I was down on myself for making unhealthy choices, but my appetite has started to return to normal in the last week.

Hang in there. Smoothies worked well for me - have you tried that yet?
  • Not yet, I used to have them all the time before I got pregnant. Maybe it's time to go back.. Any personal favorites??
  • I found a recipe for a morning sickness smoothie I liked. It's 1 cup frozen mango, 1/3 cup Lowfat plain Greek yogurt, 1/2 cup cold water, 1/4 to 1/2 cup of orange juice and a couple of pieces of crystallized ginger.

A cup of apple juice with a mixture of berries is another one of my go-tos.
  • 1/2 Apple, handful of spinach, 1/2 cup of mixed frozen berries or Frozen grapes, Greek yogurt, 1/4 -1/2 avocado, flax (makes things move!), and chia seeds
  • Half way through 14 wks here and I totally understand where you are coming from! I stay motivated by the fact that each week my diet gets more and more back to pre-pregnancy. You'll get there. Like PP said, be easy on yourself and you'll find your veggie and fruit groove again. I like the smoothly idea...I personally like banana, kiwi, blueberry, spinach. sometimes I'll add in a little pineapple and ginger!
