Sign language

Anyone doing sign language? I think M is starting to try to make signs, but he's not doing them in the right context. For example, he's been trying what I think is milk, but maybe half an hour after nursing. Do they start trying signs out at random first, kind of like saying mamamama before putting it in context? Or maybe he's just doing something else.

Re: Sign language

  • You read my mind. I was going to make a post asking about this. When Adalyn is done her "meal" of solids she makes the "all done" sign. When she doesn't seem interested in food anymore I'll say are you all done? And she replies with the sign. I wasn't sure if she really understood or just knows what the word and sign are.
Long story short, I'm no real help but am wondering when they put the signs together too.
  • Isaac hasn't started signing back to me yet. :(

Lincoln would use the sign for 'milk' in the beginning to also mean he wanted me in general.  I guess that makes sense since I didn't sign "mom" or "dad" with him until later on.  He started that around 10 months?
