Almost fainted in the shower...

Anyone else nearly pass out? i am at 15w5d.

Last night i was taking a normal shower. It was not hot, i stopped taking hot showers for this pregnancy, and i wasn't on my feet real long or sitting for a long period before. Anyway i started seeing black swirls in my vision. I tried to blink them away then starting losing all my vision. I sqaut down to the floor (to avoid falling far if i passed out) and started banging on the wall until my hubby woke up and heard me. When my vision returned he stood there and braced me while i finished washing my hair.

I am okay but it totally freaked me out and came out of nowhere! I don't see the doc again till Nov 7 but if this happens again I am gonna call them immediately. It scared the tar out of me.

    Oh no!!!  How scary!!!  I definitely experienced light headedness but not to the point of almost passing out.  I'm so glad your H was there!  I would still call your doctor and let them know what happened so that they can make note of it OR have you come in in case it's something they want to investigate further, but that's just my two cents.  So sorry you had such a scary experience!

    That sounds awful! I agree with @carlsonbaby2014 about letting your doctor know -- better safe than sorry. I hope you are feeling better.

    Very scary!!
    I agree it doesn't hurt to mention it to your doctor. Also if you're at a pharmacy over the next few days I'd do a blood pressure check just to see how that's going and make sure you have snacks in your purse.

    All of the above!  I'm so glad that you are feeling better and that you were able to prevent falling or passing out.  However, I would definitely call your doc and fill them in.  Remember to stay hydrated.

    Very scary! I've had a few near fainting episodes with this pregnancy.. My doctor says it can come of with a sudden drop in blood pressure - common in the second trimester due to the increase in blood and extra work your heart is doing. I was told to stay hydrated, don't get up too quickly, and put my feet up when possible.
    It's not fun.

    Be sure to talk to your doctor. Drink LOTS. Take it easy..

    Hi there! I'm super early and am already feeling faint especially after I eat. I'm severely anemic and I started taking more iron/it helps when I space out my prenatals - I take 6/day (Vital Nutrients).

    I was told it is "normal" and i drink at least 2 L of water a day. I have a blood pressure cuff at home so i am going to start monitering it. I can't have calcium supplements because they give me kidney stones. So i take all my vitamins individually (which means including vits, my uc meds and thyroid i take 17 pills) but i will ask about adding iron. Thanks all. Felt good all day so i dunno what brought it on.

    Sorry you experienced that! I've had a couple dizzy spells accompanied with hot flashes and nausea. Mine have happened in the mornings and in the middle of the night after not eating for a while. My doctor thinks mine are from low blood sugar and told me to have a snack before bed and right when I get up in the morning. He said, in general, if you are sitting down when you get dizzy it's from low blood sugar. If you're standing up, it's from low blood pressure. It's definitely worth talking to your doctor about. I hope it doesn't happen again!

    I actually had this happen many times before pregnancy and it was from low blood pressure. Hasn't happened to me this pregnancy cause now my Bp is high .. I would bring it up to your doc next visit and ask for tips to raise it naturally a little if it's consistently low. My doctor showed me some techniques on how to stand etc and things to do when I start feeling that way.

    I get dizzy from crouching down and getting back up. I had a really bad spell a few weeks ago where I thought I was going down. I leaned onto the wall until the black spots went away. Definitely stay hydrated but I feel like this is normal for people with bp on the lower side.

    That's scary. I'm anemic even without being pregnant so that's a pretty regular occurrence around here. Make sure you are hydrated and eat often. Heat or sudden activity hurt as well. Be sure to mention it to your ob, as it's very easy to become anemic during pregnancy.

    I haven't experienced any fainting while being pregnant, but I fainted in the shower about two years ago. DH and I shower together to save time and water. I remember complaining about feeling nauseated, I started loosing vision, and told him I thought I was going to pass out just in time for him to catch me falling forward. I remember waking up on the floor. Apparently I was out for about thirty seconds. I think it was because of a blood pressure change from getting up out of bed quickly and jumping in a warm shower. 
           I hope this doesn't happen to you again. It isn't any fun. Maybe your DH needs to buddy shower with you too. ;)

    This has been happening to me a lot. It's a horrible feeling. Seems like it's better when I eat often and drink more water but it's hard to remember sometimes!

    I have had this happen about a half dozen times this pregnancy. I have mentioned it to my doctor and she believes it's due to a drop in blood pressure (it is fairly low all the the time). She told me just to be sure to sit down as soon as I feel it to avoid falling. I haven't actually passed out yet but have been close. Take care of yourself it can be scary when it happens!
