I saw on another group people were having half birthday parties and letting their LOs have a cake smash? Is this normal? I had never heard of such a thing. Is this a harmless idea? I never thought to give my DD cake already she's been tasting "baby" solids since 4 months.

;P
I never heard of half birthdays before A14. Personally the idea of a half birthday party weirds me out. Cake smashes in general weird me out. Giving cake to a 6 month old makes me mega judgy.

Ha! Mine too. B-day twins!
I think SO and I ate some brownies on LO's half birthday, but that was just because he and I wanted them.
Last time. Good excuse to eat cake
With DS1 we did a photo shoot and had a date night for us. No cake. I struggled with even giving him cake at a year, let alone 6 months. At 6 months, that kid hadn't had a drop of anything but breastmilk, I sure wasn't giving him sugar, food dye, and processed crap.
For DS2, I *think* we managed to take a picture of him. I think if you manage to have a smash cake or party for your kid's half birthday that you have too much time on your hands.
