what kind are you using and why? I am considering maybe making the investment on a higher end ear thermometer, but I wonder do I really need it? The one we have is pretty iffy in its accuracy (forhead walgreens one)

We have a temporal thermometer than doesn't touch your skin. It's like a grocery bar code scanner, but for fevers.

We got a Braun ear thermometer after our last one broke, but I could never get an accurate reading with it. We got another exergen temporal one and we do just fine with that. I use a digital thermometer rectally if I ever need to confirm a temp.

The only one my DS will allow me to use on him is the ear thermometer (yeah he's weird)....we have the Braun one. Works well

We use this as well. It's what our pedi uses, so that's why we got it.

We just use a regular digital and take axillary temp.

We have the Braun ear one too. We get 20% off coupons for CVS regularly, so maybe you could wait until you can do something like that, but it's the most accurate one we've found other than rectal.
