Fluid leak

I just had a gush of clear fluid.. I called my ob office they don't seem concerned.. I was able to talk to my OB doctor who happens to be on call tonight. He told me to take it easy and to come in if I continue to gush fluid. Sounds like they think the fluid leak will resolve on it's own.. idk.. I'm so scared but my doctors is over an hour away. So I'm trying to behave but my little guy won't stay off of my bladder..

I would call back and get more information so you can understand what is going on. If I had to guess, I would say they probably think you had a lot of discharge at once - causing a gosh - but not that your water broke. Here's a TMI, but I remember when I first got my period if I sat for a while and then stood up, I had the same sensation. It sounds like they are saying that if your water broke, it wouldn't be one gush, it would continue happening.

That said, I hate for patients to sit around worried when a five minute conversation with me would make them feel better. Get the information you need to feel better and relax.

Lie down on your side for 30min. Then get up. If you have another gush, go to the ER. If nothing comes, you are probably not looking at a fluid leak.

Agree with this. When my water broke with my first, it didn't stop. I waited two hours to go to the hospital and it just kept coming the whole time.

When my water broke with DS it was the middle of the night and my initial leak was definitive gush that woke me up. But it did definitely keeping coming after.... not like a continuous stream...but enough to know without a doubt what was going on.

If you're truly concerned I'd say go. It's an easy enough test and the worst thing is they tell you it was a gush of other fluids and send you home. Good luck.

I'm still healing from a subchorionic hemorrhage.. It's been breaking up and causing discharge. Which I've been checked for and my ultrasound this last week showed that it had completely resolved. The OB physician wasn't horribly helpful. But it's been almost an hour and it seems to have stopped leaking..

I get little gushes quite often. (Sorry TMI). I don't remember having this with my first two pregnancies. I know it's obviously not my water breaking, but I always worry that I have a leak or something. I hope it turns out to be nothing for you (and me too)!

Please don't be afraid to go in if you feel like you want/need to. I hope it's just a gush, but we just had a girl on the board with fluid issues and it's been a roller coaster for her (check out the posts for flutterfly for more info on it). It's better to be safe than sorry!
