I don't want to believe she was running it either, but the fact that she disappeared when shit went down then opened a new account without acknowledging anything (and the avoiding TTGP altogether) is really suspicious. At the very least she owes us an explanation.
This is where I am. I mean, I liked Nelly and I thought she was okay with me. I didn't really get more than a glancing blow from the confessional, but some people got seriously hurt because people (or person, because I'm pretty sure most of the really nasty hateful shit was the mod) couldn't think before they wrote shit out. And a lot of the truly awful stuff became all 'taksie-backsies' after people got pissed the first time.
You know, it wasn't 'confessional' and it wasn't even 'BOAB' both of which I think have a place and I wish they could have more of a place on the boards, it was just hateful. It was hitting people where they hurt. I can get being excited about a place where you don't have to worry about TOU, and I enjoy some drama as much as the next person who is purposefully reading this thread or on TB this weekend, but if I'm going to really dislike someone enough to say that shit, I'm putting my name on it.

Do you really not see the absurdity of your previous comments? I never said you thought rape was ok. I implied that blaming the people who were hurt by some awful shit that was said by some incredible assholes was using the same logic as blaming the rapee (is that a word?)
My huge problem with whoever modded the confessional is that I feel like they posted a lot of the shit on there themselves to stir up shit. I can't possibly believe there are soo many horrible people out there sending in heinous disgusting 'confessions.'
In addition to this, whomever ran the confessional, when they weren't making the 'confessions' themselves, was obviously sending the link to butthurt newbs who had no way of knowing it existed (i.e. it wasn't in a post on the first couple of pages of the board and hadn't been mentioned in a bit, but I would see posts that obviously came from new posters). One of my huge questions was how on earth a newb who didn't seem to have lurked would know it was there at all (I didn't know that it had been re-started until it was brought up in a thread a while afterwards)? I'd like to get an answer to that. To know that the person who was 'modding' that went out of their way to get people to say more hurtful shit, almost as a cover.

Regardless of the fact that some people were ok with it starting up again, the fact is that I'm sure many people who didn't support it, or didn't even know about it prior to, were personally attacked on it. No one deserved the awful things that were said, or the invasion of privacy, whether they supported it at the beginning or not.
Saying "hey you guys thought this would be funny" is a shitty response. There was no sign up list, no way for people to say they wanted to be part of it or not. So no, it was not asked for or deserved.

So, and this is as I remember it, Confessional 2.0 started out pretty much as a confessional with some shit, and then it spiraled and shut itself down. Confessional 2.1 pretty much started off shitty. The first time I read it, it had been up for just a bit and I think the first thing I read on it was something talking about how there shouldn't be 'science babies' and how some people were more 'blessed.' It was out of the gate awful. There was no 'spiral' for it. Meaning that whomever was the mod absolutely had the intention of posting stuff like that or letting it be posted. It was only after that first blow-up thread that whomever was in charge of it was all 'ooops, no more infertility stuff or racism.' I really don't want to think Nelly would talk like that, I really don't, but that confessional started out awful. It got to 'weird confessional stuff' for a bit, but then it went back to awful.

My huge problem with whoever modded the confessional is that I feel like they posted a lot of the shit on there themselves to stir up shit. I can't possibly believe there are soo many horrible people out there sending in heinous disgusting 'confessions.'
This exactly. I have said this over and over again. Oh hey guys, btw. Along with the vile shit was also a lot of really random weird shit about random people which I believe was posted in order to intentionally try to get others riled up about someone who really didn't do much. I am not sure yet if I believe Nelly was the mod or not but I do believe she was somehow involved, that we don't know the whole story/have all the information, and that she owes us all an explanation. Too much of the shit that was written on there had the same vibe, like it was written by the same person. I think Pickle is awesome for doing this and while I believe in letting things go to an extent, I feel that we should not just let something like this die without a fight.

FTR I do NOT know if Nelly was the admin for the confessional, that was one of the things I was asking her. I know quite a few people think she was. All I know for a fact was she posted the link under an AE. That alone is shady as fuck but not as bad as actually running the site. I thought it was weird she would promote it if she wasn't behind it, or knew who was. I think it is weird the site shut down around the time she came clean about being the AE.

However blaming the victims doesn't seem appropriate. Nelly or whoever had control over what was posted didn't have to allow it to spiral into the oblivion of mean spirited hatefulness that it became.
You know, it wasn't 'confessional' and it wasn't even 'BOAB' both of which I think have a place and I wish they could have more of a place on the boards, it was just hateful. It was hitting people where they hurt. I can get being excited about a place where you don't have to worry about TOU, and I enjoy some drama as much as the next person who is purposefully reading this thread or on TB this weekend, but if I'm going to really dislike someone enough to say that shit, I'm putting my name on it.
Anyone wants to call me out, I'm here for it (eventually, I'll see it), if you want to be cruel and use my TTC history against me, that's shitty (and that's what was done to lots of people on the confessional).

It is disgusting. Honestly TOU should only apply when someone is being hateful about a call out. If you aren't being hurtful or the person your calling out was acting like a cuntcake then it shouldn't be a bannable offense.
