OP- nothing *actually* works. The only "scientific" method is sex, as the prostaglandins (I think that's right...) in sperm help to soften your cervix. I went 9 days past my due date, and I was doing everything under the sun to try to "naturally" induce. Unfortunately, there is nothing natural about inducing. Your baby comes when he's ready.
I'm 39 weeks also. And I have just been staying active. It's all you can do. I'm not trying any methods unless my doctor suggest something.
What's your due date? Are you a FTM?
Nope. But I'm due on the 26th. I think most FTM normally go at least to 40 weeks. I was induced the first time at 41. So just hang tight and enjoy the time you have left. Once they come out you can't put them back.

I even call bullshit on sperm helping.
In birthing class, they said it works... But you would need about a gallon to be effective. I don't know about you guys, but ain't nobody got time for that!

OP- nothing actually works, I was 12 days overdue and had to be induced. I tried everything but castrol oil.. The LO will come when they want or sometimes they need a little help !
I'm just getting really sad bc I wanna meet my LO..I'm a FTM and I am ready to meet him.
Newborns aren't that great. You're better off staying pregnant. It's easier.
Completely disagree. But I hate pregnancy.
There is something about dates making labor easier.
My doctor mentioned figs. She said some study suggested if you started eating them at 36 weeks it could prep your ute or something. Figs are gross, so is sperm. I might just stay pregnant forever.
5 cycles of "TTC" - 3 intentional, 2 not so intentional. 5 BFPs. My rainbow arrived 10/15/14. TFMC 08.02.13 at 19+ weeks. Everyday I grieve for my little Olive.
Natural induction methods only work if your body and baby are ready to be born. That said, sperm and evening primrose oil contain prostaglandins that are helpful for thinning the cervix. So have lots of sex and take evening primrose oil. Red raspberry leaf tea is known to help cause contractions.
There's also acccupressure, so you could see a chiropractor to get things moving.
Again, these things work with your body if you and baby are ready. Otherwise they won't work. Why are you in a rush to get baby out anyway? I'd only recommend trying to induce labor if it was medically necessary or if you were past your due date.
I've been told sex, spicy food & walking. All horrible things to do to ones self at this stage of the game. Spicy food gives me massive indigestion, I am too tired & swollen to walk, and the last thing I want to do is put something else up in my body, especially in a poking motion! Lol
I have no idea if any really work or if coincidence but I have been trying all 3. If this kid doesn't come on his own by Tuesday than I am having csection Wednesday. I prefer vaginal but if this kid gets any bigger it's not an option either way.
Me: 33 - PCOS & Hypothyroidism
DH: 35 - SA is good
Married since 2010 (together since 2006)
TTC since June 2009 (we knew we would have issues and wanted family right away after we got married).
No pregnancies yet.
May 2013 - started first round of Chlomid & ovidrel cycle.
So I have a friend who says she went into labor the day after she made a mango pinapple smoothie. With yogurt and frozen strawberry/and ice. But she swears it is what did it. I'm guessing it's worth a try. I bet it's yummy at the least.

I went into labor after ONE cup of red raspberry leaf tea. :P I doubt it's the tea that did it, though. My speedy labor seems to indicate that he was ready to go, raspberries or not!
Also 39 weeks and hoping for a VBAC, so really needing baby to come on her own before getting evicted by CS at 41 weeks. What my midwife has recommended, though none have obviously worked for me: pineapple, evening primrose oil (Both orally and topically), red rasp tea, bouncing on yoga ball, walking, orgasm, sex (sperm), accupressure, but most of all, RELAXING and trusting your body will do it's thing when it's ready, which is hard for me too Good luck!

Damn! I better go to the bar to find a group of guys to get that much sperm! I don't know any one guy who produces that much at a time. Cue disturbing mental image.
Op, I am almost 40 weeks with my third and I have tried all natural induction methods and none of them really work. Hell, I was medically induced 3 times my last pregnancy and those didn't even work. Just wait for your lo to come.
Re: natural ways to induce labor??
My Gma mentioned this
Are you a FTM?

And/or get sent to the hospital for an emergency induction. Worked for me.
