How prepared are you?

I got to thinking today about how prepared I would be if there was a natural disaster and I couldn't get back to my baby. Ya, paranoid I know. But, it got me thinking about what I can do or supply my mom with when I go back to work next month. So far, I have EBF, but want to make sure my mom has formula on hand in the case of an emergency. She will already have ample diapers, wipes, etc. I suppose I should also get her a thermometer and other essentials just in case. What would you/do you have in your emergency baby bag for daycare or child care provider?

It has about 2 days worth of essentials: water, diapers, wipes, clothes, can of formula, thermometer, tylenol/ibuprofen/benedryl, snot sucker. As time goes by, I'll need to update it with her current size clothing and diapers and also add some baby food in with it.

This also lets me not carry a huge/heavy diaper bag (as long as the truck is close by) because it has everything I need.

That's funny, @nutmegs8‌, after that thread I figures I was carrying around way too little and now keep a well stocked diaper bag in my car.

I am not at all prepared for an emergency, with maybe the exception of my diaper bag. I keep thinking about getting a "survival kit" ready to leave in the car but haven't done it yet. We really need to get more prepared in general (not just with LO's stuff), especially after the recent earthquake and with all the reminders of Loma Prieta. It's the 25th anniversary and it's all over the news right now...not sure if this helped trigger your post @JmeJoLee83 (I think you're in Northern California?)

Umm totally unprepared. I don't think I am even prepared for normal car mishaps (I know for SURE I don't have a jack or cables in my car right now... oops) so I should probably get on that.

Well, currently, we are not prepared for any disasters per se, but we are planning what to have on hand for winter (which hits here around mid-November). I'd like to have a few sample packs of formula stashed and I usually carry a bottle of water fresh in the car with us, LOTS of blankets, hand warmers, extra clothes, diapers, wipes, first aid kit, jumper cables, fix-a-flat, etc...

If a natural disaster warranting an emergency kit were to hit, I'd be on first-call to work at the hospital, along with DH, so DS would probably just come to work with us...

I was just thinking about this the other day. I'm also from Northern California so all the news about the earthquake had made me a little paranoid I have her essentials in her diaper bag but I also should have one ready for me and DH. I have started to stalk up on water, but there is so much more I could do. It's funny cuz before I had her this would have been the furthest thing from my mind, it's funny how mother hood changed you in so many ways.
