Need some perspective...

I mostly lurk here but I need some advice. I will be 36 weeks Sunday with di-di twins and I can't take it anymore! I know there is a wall you hit but I have been in the hospital twice in the last 2 weeks with regular contractions but I'm not dilating past one so they just send me home. I am constantly having contractions, can't sleep and I hardly get out of the house because of the pain and contractions. I feel like my sanity can't take anymore but they won't take the babies until after 38weeks! Baby A is breech so I will have to have a section anyway. Any perspective on why they can't come sooner? (36.5-37weeks) Is it because they are di-di twins?

I'm a few weeks behind you and wanted to cry when my MFM changed the expected delivery from 37 to 38 weeks. That extra week just sounds miserable. All I can say is that it's better for the babies to stay in as long as possible. I'm trying to focus on being lucky that I can cook these babies as so many go early. The longer they stay in--the faster they come home! I'm not sure this is the best advice but I felt so yucky yesterday bc I didn't sleep the night before due to being uncomfortsble so I took Benadryl to get sleep last night. I feel better today.

It's hard, definitely. My babies come early - my singleton at 37w and the twins at 34w and it makes those first few weeks so much more stressful when they're close, but not quite full-term. There's jaundice, feeding issues, lung maturity, and temp control all to be mastered. And no, it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but there so much going on w PP hormones, recovery from birth, and adjusting to no sleep, that every little extra thing counts. You want to enjoy your babies when they're born and not worry about all the other near-term issues.

I'm right there with you! 36 weeks and feeling like I can hardly take it any more. I'm measuring 47 weeks and my body is in pain. I'm really just trying to take it one day at a time, as cliche as it is, because I can't think about 2 more weeks... but I'm very glad it's not 4 more weeks! As PPs have said, it's best for them as far as lung maturity, etc. You can do it!

I'm also 36 weeks 4 days. I have pretty much hit a wall as well. I'm still working part time and it is so hard to get up in the mornings, but we can't afford me leaving until they come and I have been ok just very uncomfortable at work. I was having contractions all day Monday that were getting strong, but were inconsistent so I thought they were coming, but the contractions stopped.

I never hit the 'official' wall because I didn't make it past 30 weeks, 1 day.

So since you've asked for perspective...

I'm sure you know that so many people would love to hit that wall, yet can't/don't. That doesn't mean it's not miserable for you and that you can't complain, but it DOES mean you are doing a great thing for those babies! It sucks, absolutely - but remember that every single day those babies are snuggled inside is a chance for them to get even bigger and stronger.

You're almost there - you can do it!

I know the phrase 'every day counts' got me through my 5 weeks of on/off contractions so hopefully this time will pass quickly for you

Thanks ladies! I think I just needed that little boost. I'm just going to have to focus on one day at a time
