1) A bad night these days involves LO getting up about every 2 hours. 10/11pm, 2am, 4am, 5:30am ish, and fights sleep until 6:30/7am when his "official" wake-up time is. I just nurse him, and generally he goes back to sleep quickly doing this. The one time I tried *not* nursing it was a 2 hour fiasco. I'll take my "bad" nursing habits and relatively quick wake-ups for now!
2) A "normal" night has LO waking up twice - 2/3am and 5am, going back to sleep until a bit before 7.
3) A "good" night has one wakeup around 4am. Exceedingly few and far between.
We have the most trouble from about 5am. LO *will* eventually go back to sleep, but I'm torn as to if I should just give up and say that we're up for the day then. *shrugs* But I don't think I could function on that little sleep, so I'll keep fighting the good fight for sleep until 6:30/7.
Bad: 3 or more wake ups or up for more than an hour at any wake up.
Normal: 1-2 wake ups, usually 15 minutes each.
Good: only 1 wake up and it's not until 4 AM or later. He's never completely STTN unless you count a 4:15 wake up that he never fell back asleep after.
Bad: waking up at all Normal: sleeps 7:30-8:30 Good: Sleeps 7:30-9:30/10
However, naps are a completely different story! I think she just wants to get all her needed sleep at night so she doesn't have to nap during the day. But I firmly believe she still needs a nap and we are at odds there
1) What's a "bad" night like for you in terms of LO's sleep? What do you do?
The only bad nights we have are when he is sick. (Knock on wood!) He had a stomach virus earlier this week and woke up every hour or so either puking or crying from the tummy pain. But other than that, he usually sleeps fine.
2) What's a "normal" night like for LO's sleep? Goes to bed around 7 pm, gets up between 5:30-7:30 am, depending on if it is a daycare day or not.
3) What's a "good" night like for LO's sleep? Same as a normal night, but once in a blue moon, he will sleep until 8 am, and that is freaking awesome.

Bad nights : wake up at midnight and refuses to go back to sleep. Up every hour after this (this has happened a few times lately while we have been travelling)
Normal night: down at 7pm and up between 7:30-8:00
Bad = up screaming every 2 hours...I usually try to let him CIO, but if it's been more than 10 minutes or DH has a busy day at work the next day, I rock him in the chair and let him fall asleep on me, then try to ninja transfer him into the crib
Normal = up once, put the paci back in and he fusses for a few minutes then goes back to sleep, wakes up around 6:30 and rolls around/talks to himself until I go get him at 7am
Good = STTN until 7am...happens once a week maybe, usually if we were out past his bedtime the night before or he napped terribly the day before.
Lol @CL8badB I know what you mean! I figured I was safe since we are having crappy nights with the canines and travelling. Hoping we get back to normal once we get home though
1. Bad night, down at 8. Up and down all night. But she self soothes. But the house is awake. She never cries just makes noise. We wake her between 6 and 6:30 2.sleeps from 7:30 til we get her out of bed. Not a peep from her. Maybe once or twice but no distress. 3. Is the same as number 2. I have a wonderful sleeper. She has been sleeping like this since she was 9 months old.
Bad: waking up at all. Normal: Sleeps 8:30-8:00 Good: Our normal is great, but it's really great when she takes a nap AND STTN.
Our naps are hit or miss now. She went through a long nap strike recently, but now she takes a nap maybe 4 days out of the week. The other days I put her in her crib and let her play in there quietly for about 30-45 min to give her the opportunity if she wants it. If not, we just go about our day and I know to put her down for bed about an hour earlier.
Usually 8-7:30 with no wake ups, so bad is any wake ups. Usually she will put herself back to sleep if she does wake up. Great is waking up any time past 7:45.
Re: What's your LO's sleep like?
DS born 6/2013
Normal night is 1 wake up.
Good night is STTN which happens about every 3rd night right now. He is in the middle of canine teething hell.
