Cervical length

Hi everyone,
Just returned from my Dr.'s ofc. They measured my cervical length and found it came up short. They said normal length is over 3cm and mine is 2cm. They put me on progesterone and asked that I return weekly to monitor any changes. If things do change, they will do a cerclage- which I'm told means they put stitches in your cervix to help it stay strong and closed. I'm nervous.
Any Moms currently going through this or any btdt moms have previous experience with this?

  • Sorry you are dealing with this. With my first pregnancy, they monitored my cervical length closely because I had had a LEEP in the last. It was trending downward, although not to the point of being a real issue yet. To be safe and hopefully prevent the need for bedrest, my doctor recommended a cerclage, which I got at 17 weeks. Procedure went fine and I had no issues the rest of my pregnancy. Cerclage came out at 36 weeks, and I went into labor naturally at 39w 6 d, one day before my due date.

After you have a cerclage with one pregnancy, apparently you must get one preventively with subsequent pregnancies. I had mind placed with my current pregnancy about two weeks ago, at 12 weeks. Again, procedure went fine. Hoping for another uneventful remainder of pregnancy this time around!

Having the cerclage was scary but totally worth it. It helped me reduce my stress and paranoia about my cervical length.

If you want any further details about the procedure and what it was like, PM me. Good luck with everything!
  • I just found out mine's 5, I'll share! ;)
  • @dolanjj thank you for sharing your positive experience. Reading it makes me feel a lot less nervous.
@Pastrypixie3‌ Thank you! I'm sure you can send 1cm via USPS :D
