Nausea rant

I don't have morning sickness (why do they call it that?!) nearly as bad as some of you ladies, I know. But man, I am sick of being sick!!! 15w today, and the last few weeks have been worse than ever. Today, I started getting hungry at work, and thinking about food. Thinking about food made me feel really nauseated, and I knew I better move fast to get some food in my stomach or I would start throwing up. I took lunch break, drove to the nearby grocery store, and then proceeded to sit in the car the entire time. I felt so sick that I knew if I tried to walk through that store I was going to throw up. I tried sucking on a mint, but that made it a little worse. I tried leaning the seat back, but that only helped while I was horizontal; the minute I sat up I almost lost it again. Thinking about what food I would even force myself to eat made me more sick. I ended up clenching my teeth and going through a Mcdonald's drivethru, not because it sounded at all good, but because that way I wouldn't have to get out of the car. So far, I haven't tossed my cookies yet, but its touch and I go, and I want to feel better soon! I want to enjoy food like pregnant women are supposed to! I want to be able to walk through a grocery store without wondering if I'm going to make it through the aisles. I love being pregnant; it's my privilege to carry this child; I try not to complain, but gosh darn it! I want to feel well again!!!!!

Re: Nausea rant

  • I hear you on this one. I'm completely happy to be pregnant and I'm fortunate to not have HG, but man I'm tired of puking. I want to eat all the foods and be full.

  • My husband always ask me what I want from the grocery store. i try to explain to him that even thinking about food makes me vomit. This is my fourth pregnancy, so for me I know this last until 16-18 weeks. I always got frustrated when others started feeling better much sooner. However, my whole pregnancy I was always an easy puker, even if the nausea was not as bad.
  • I can relate! Still having such nausea that I have been still taking some personal time from work that I would like to save. When I start to feel nausea and hunger I have to eat, like, right now. No waiting 20 minutes either. I just try to keep snacks in the near vacinity at all times- in my desk drawer, near the bed, in my purse. It helps a little.

  • I can relate too. I'm sitting here, extremely queasy, tried eating a poptart to just get something in my stomach. Nothing sounds good but i know i need food. I already woke up earlier in the morning and was sick and ate a bowl of oatmeal. Went back to sleep and woke up 3 hours later. Wake up nauseous and hungry.

It's like i can't win. And it's so frustrating. 15w today and i am just so defeated with this. I just want to feel better!!
  • Glad I'm not alone - well, I knew I wasn't. But it helps to vent a little and commiserate. :)@nungongju pop tarts are totally my friend right now, no idea why. They actually taste good!
  • So sorry you fee so terrible!  It is emotionally exhausting I think for it to last this long.

Mine's getting much better, but still really irritates me in the evening.  Brushing my teeth is still such a chore and mental exercise.

Hope you all get to enjoy nausea-free lives soon!

  • I was just going to post to see if others were feeling this way into our second trimester. If I don't immediately eat when I first feel hunger than I'm dry-heaving or getting sick with whatever is in my stomach.

I feel so bad right now. I tried to push back lunch a little later today so I could meet my friend and share the news so, I ate a granola bar. 10mins later, I literally had to pull the car over and ended up throwing up all over myself and my front seat! I think there's a chance I aspirated some of it! WTH?! I hope this ends soon....

Just a few tips from one with HG... again :(
It really helps me to just get it out of the way and throw up BEFORE I eat, now I will be less likely to throw up food chunks (painful and gross). This way I can get some food down directly after ;)
You really do need to keep something on you at all times, a pouch of granola or banana chips is pretty safe for me because I only get about a 5 min. warning before I have to eat.
Sometimes you're better off just getting it out rather than trying to hold back that nauseous feeling all day, just make sure you keep well hydrated because that will spiral out real quick and you'll end up in the hospital with an IV dinner haha.
GL ladies and keep hanging in there :)
  • @MaMa~MoOrE that's so true actually. On really bad days, I strategize so that I throw up with a lot of water in my stomach since it's much more comfortable than otherwise, and eat right away afterward. Thankfully I don't have too many days of vomiting like that, but when you're trying to keep some nutrients down that's the best way! I need to start keeping nuts and other snacks on me all the time. It would help if the second I feel even slightly sick I nibble on something!
  • I totally understand. I have issues where I need an extra meal between lunch and dinner but am too exhausted and can't think of a single edible thing. When I start to prep dinner my body demands that I eat it this second but I can't eat it before I cook it! So I end up feeling so sick by dinnertime that I can just barely throw the food at my kids before running to the bathroom while they eat. Then I drag myself out and try to get them to bed as fast as possible so I can try to eat something, since their screaming and running around is not condusive to me trying to eat and keep my food down. I end up feeling sick all evening even after I eat and then wake up in the night either feeling hungry (but nothing sounds good) or sick. I can't wait for the misery to end!
  • I have only vomited a few times, but they were so violent that I broke a blood vessel in me eye (Dr saw it and said its NBD, its just ugly) and a bunch of small ones on my cheeks! GRR!

Im also pissed because pasta, bread and cereal make me so so nauseous. I just want to eat my comfort food! Fruit calms my nausea, but gives me gas and bloat discomfort.

I cant wait to eat normally again!!

  • @nchall2012 protip: i carry a zip lock bag in my purse at all times. I have garbage bags/zip lock bags in both my cars. Believe me, you won't be sorry to carry a bag around with you.
  • 15 weeks here also I can not go food shopping haven't since about 8 weeks, last time I went I took to sitting in the middle of the isle else I would have passed out, not nice! I love being pregnant and it encourages my partner to help and be a bit more sympathetic bless him he does find it funny tho
  • TMI Warning: I'm 16 weeks today and I vomit every single day in the morning. I get up at 5 am for work, then play a delicate balancing act between oatmeal and nausea for the next 45 minutes. The good mornings are the ones when I puke immediately (although those make my eyes water, my nose run, my head sweat, and induce fever chills because I'm only puking up phlegm from post-nasal drip). The bad ones are when I puke up my nausea medication or don't make it to the bathroom... Usually after that lovely dose of oatmeal.

I feel nauseous every night after dinner, and now the heartburn is setting in, too. Glad it means the LO is supposedly healthy, but vomiting every day for 7 weeks just takes everything out of me.
  • I feel like I've been pretty lucky for the most part as far as getting sick, but I agree that I'm ready for food to sound good again!  I haven't eaten so many of my favorite things (Chickfila, chocolate, etc) for the past couple of months because I can't even find them appetizing.

STM+---does this change after pregnancy or will I never enjoy my favorite spicy chicken sandwich deluxe again?  wahhh...haha

  • I imagine it goes away. There are very few things i have puked up that i don't think I'll eat again. In fact, I've puked up food and gone right back to esting said food before. Bc i know it wasn't caused by the food, it was caused by MS.

As for aversions, i do believe that goes away too. Bc i know my mom said her aversions and cravings were completely different with me and my siblings. So yes, there is hooe for the spicy chicken sandwich (i can't stomach them at chick-fil-a either. I'll cry with you. Lol)

I'm pretty misterable rn. 15w1 now and no real let up on nausea or puking, though, so far, haven't puked yet today. Crossing my fingers it stays that way.
