14 Month Old Eating Schedule

All of a sudden my DS doesn't want to eat dinner. He will hold the food in his mouth and fuss if we try to give him more. He will usually eat a good breakfast and lunch. He is my first so I'm wondering if this is the start of becoming a picky eater or if maybe we feed him too much at his other meals. Has anyone else had their 14 month old act like this?

    That is about when the picky/difficult eating stage started for us. Some days he would eat great, but more often, he'd only eat one or two good meals a day. My only advice is to keep offering the food and let him eat what he'll eat. Try to look at the day and each week overall as far as eating and not one meal.

    I'm of the belief that they will eat if they are hungry. I would still offer him dinner, and if he doesn't eat, it's okay. Both of my kids will have days where they eat a LOT, and then days where they will eat maybe a strawberry and a cracker.  They seem fine.

    I try to look at his temperament also and he seems like his normal self. I called his Dr just to be on the safe side because his poop is a little acidic as well. Hopefully it's just a phase or something minor. Thanks for the input!

    I've run into this a few times and my pedi always says, if DD is hungry she will eat or ask for food and if she's not she won't eat.  You have to remember their stomachs are still pretty small.  Another thing for DD is if she hasn't pooped all day she usually won't eat dinner until after she gets one out.  I can tell when that's the reason because her belly is so hard.  My pedi is ok with DD going without one meal every now and then as long as she is staying hydrated.
