My due date was the 7th, and by no surprise to anyone that date came and went. Not a single eye blinked twice about this...
Life went on, and I managed to get an induction date and placed on a wait list. I still chuckle to think there is a wait list to have a baby.
My induction was set for Thursday going into Friday but some babies were born so I was able to get bumped up two days. None of that mattered though. I was jolted out of my sleep starting at exactly midnight on Tuesday with strong back pains that traveled down low in front. There was no laying down through them. After the third one, I knew what was happening. I didn't say anything to anybody because there was no need to get excited since they were pretty far apart.
As the night progressed, they got super close together and my mother actually heard my moaning and groaning through one. By that time, it was 8 o'clock and i'd been roughing it on my own just jumping up and down trying to shake the pain away. By the time she found me, they were about 6-8 mins apart.
Jumped in the shower and they were getting closer and closer, rounded up my SO and headed to the hospital. When I got hooked up to the monitors, my contractions were every 2-4 mins and I was 3cm dilated. I was admitted for a change, and got settled in my room.
From about 10 am to roughly 8pm, I labored naturally with contractions back to back every 2 mins. In that time frame, I was placed on pitocin and never got a chance to get out the bed because I was placed on oxygen and kept on my side for a while. A probe was placed on my baby's scalp for more accurate monitoring, and my water was broken as a failed attempt to jump start some progress. No progress was made but this sinker had pooped in utero. I broke down and got an epidural sometime after 8, and it was lovely. I had all my leg moment and I felt nothing contraction wise. All in all, I was still sent for a c-section for lack of progress and baby was having some decelerations.
I cried, we prayed, and I was whisked off down the hall to an OR room. 15 mins later I heard my baby cry and I couldn't even stop the ugly cry the ensued if I wanted too.
My chunky butt baby was born tipping the scale at 8lbs 3oz on 10/14/14 and she couldn't be more perfect.
Thanks for reading my unpublished short story!

Woke up with contractions, labored independently through the night, ended up with a c-section for failure to progress. Had my LO and I stare at her daily in awe.
