Is this weird?

So I went for my 39 week appointment yesterday and my dr decided that if I don't have my baby before the 23(Edd) we are inducing on the 24th. I'm not complaining I'm super excited to meet my baby girl, not to mention not be pregnant anymore, but it seems a little weird to me that one day after my EDD he wants to induce. I haven't had any medical problems, Besides one pre e scare, and I'm measure exactly where I should be. Just kinda want you guys' opinions, seem weird to anyone else?

If your doctor didn't explain the reasoning for the timeline he is looking to implement, we're certainly not going to be able to. Sorry OP.

  • I def agree w what everyone else is saying. I'd just ask your dr why the rush.
  • Seems odd, I would ask.

  • Yeah, I mean he's kinda doing me a favor without knowing it. I recently found out that if I go past my due date I will HAVE to keep working until I deliver unless it's medically necessary for me to stop. It just seemed odd he didn't put much thought into it, he basically said I am working that Friday at the hospital so we'll have to go in to be induced that morning. I'm hoping to naturally go into labor before then otherwise my dad won't get to see his first grand baby until Christmas. :-S
  • Yea it struck me as odd. But I didn't really think much of it until later because I was overwhelmed with the thought of that just being a week away at first. I was 70% effaced and 2cm dilated and he stripped my membranes so I'm REALLY just hoping to go naturally!
  • My ob won't let you go past 41 weeks so they typically would induce sometime during the 40th week. They also schedule patients on the day they are on call. It's basically so they don't slam another dr with lots of inductions. I guess it's their way of being fair to each other. If they make the call to induce then they do the induction.
  • Yes sounds strange. My edd is Monday the 20th and my doc won't talk to me about induction until I'm passed my due date.....like a week past!! I would ask why your doc wants to rush it. DS2 was born 2 days after his edd and came on his own. I wouldn't rush it....
