We always get our kids anywhere chairs for their first birthday. So Ben is getting one of those and probably a collapsible tunnel because the one we had for his brothers broke but they had hours and hours of fun with it! We have pretty much every toy ever made in the past 6 years and Ben doesn't play with any of them, so that's about it. Unless our current house sells in the next few weeks, then we'll be moving into our new one right in time for bens dec 2nd birthday
I got DD a cabbage patch doll. I got one for my first birthday, and almost 27 years later, I still have it! DD started playing with mine the other day, so I thought it would be prefect timing!
We have quite a lot of family coming to her party so I don't want to go overboard and buy too much.
He's getting the B. Toys drum, a teepee, one of those push cars or a wagon and some little stuff between his birthday and Christmas. Not sure how it will be divided. DD doesn't believe in Santa anymore thank goodness, so I get one year off from having to play Santa and I'm going to enjoy the relaxing Christmas!
So far I got her the Laugh and Learn vacuum (she is obSESSED with my vacuum), letter and number bath tiles, the book "Busy Doggies", will be getting the "Busy Monkeys" book, and a plaid jumper. I have many others waiting in my Amazon gift cart that I'm buying in spurts so I don't realize how big the bill is :-P
I got LO a pink unicorn rocking horse off zulily for her birthday and I want to get a teepee for Christmas. I figure she'll get a zillion toys from friends and family so we're sticking with 2.
I'm debating a few places to get the teepee (land of nod / PB) or etsy types like the sprouted arrow or tnees tepees.
@cbowl I saw some cute teepees at costco recently. Similar to the land of nod ones and I think they were only around $75. I wish we had the room for one.
@raycheelamb thats the exact one! Maybe I can still find it somewhere, I thought they probably stopped making it long ago!
@mrsLC1210 We always get the regular sized ones. They really aren't that big and the My First Anywhere chair would be outgrown really quickly. My 3 & 6 year olds still use their regular sized ones.
I haven't really even thought too much about Christmas yet so I'm stalking this thread for ideas! I am thinking that some outside toys would be good because we live in Florida so winter/early spring is the best time for playing outside here. Because her birthday is only a week after Christmas, DH and I were throwing around the idea of getting her toys that she could play with immediately for Christmas and then some appropriate toys for when she's 18-24 months for her birthday (with 1 or 2 small things she could play with immediately). I figure while she's young enough to not care, that would help with the fact that they 2 biggest gift-getting times for her are so close together so she can have some new toys in the summer.
I haven't decided what is for LO's b-day and what's for Christmas, but we are getting him one of those Little Tikes climbers with a slide, an anywhere chair, a sit-n-spin, a small plastic golf set, Melissa & Doug puzzles, and a few other things, depending on what the grandparents get him.
@sleepymonkey my LO's b-day is 12/23, and DH & I had the same conversation about 18-24 month toys. I let my parents know that it's OK to get him things that he's too little for now, and we can introduce them next summer-ish.
I was thinking of getting DS a little red wagon. Until I saw the teepee at land of nod. Now I want to get him that. An anywhere chair sounds like a good idea. I'm so torn.
Does anyone know anything about the Rody? That has good reviews too.
Just my two cents as a stm. The tee pee is a better gift when they are two or three. Once they first walk they just want to run everywhere. The tee pee is nice when they are a little older and into the fort thing.

Sorry- I'm normally a lurker but have been debating about the chairs in my head and would love a recommendation!
For DS1, my favorite gifts for his first birthday were a push around buggy and wooden activity cube.

Both boys are getting anywhere chairs for Christmas.
I also really want to get a personalized growth chart to start marking on his first birthday. Something like this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/189293002/growth-chart-wooden-height-chart-kids?ref=market
