Ssa antibody, heartblock, and doing this all alone

hey ladies. Been going to high risk dr now and she just increased it by every week now. Wants to monitor the baby because I have this ssa antibody that can cause a heart block. All this and doing this alone since boyfriend of two years left me a month ago. In so exhausted mentally and physically. No sleep all the tears. Just too much. Anyone else have anything like this

I'm sorry you're going through this and all on your own- that must be very difficult. I haven't been through this in particular, but we've all had dark, scary times in our lives. This is just the rain before the rainbow. It may take time but things will get better. Hang in there mama! Lots of hugs!

  • I'm so sorry you're dealing with is... I also have the positive SSA antibody due to sjogrens/possible lupus... My rheumatologist recommended I see a fetal specialist for my anatomy scan to check for heart block around 18 weeks and then to follow his recommendations through my regular OBGYN practice, with them following up with symptoms and monitoring the heart at each appt. It's stressful, and I can only imagine having to go every week! I haven't gone back to the fetal specialist, but I know communicating all of the information to each doctor so they are all on the same page is a lot! I know it's not too helpful, because an increased risk is an increased risk, but I was told by the fetal specialist and rheumatologist that the risk is not too high - so I try to keep reminding myself of that! I know my baby also has a risk of neonatal lupus, not sure if your case is similar, but obviously once you choose a pediatrician, I'm sure they can assist in hopefully relieving some fears by discussing treatments and care. I will be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your way... I know the feeling I had leading up to; and going to that 18 week appt and I wouldn't wish it on anyone! Praying for a healthy remainder of your pregnancy and delivery!!
  • I'm so sorry to hear this :( I hope you can get some support from somewhere in your life, even if it's just us. :) I offer creepy internet hugs as well and please know you can vent to us anytime.

  • Thank u so much ladies!!! I need all the support I can get.
  • I'm not familiar with ssa antibodies, but it sounds like your doctor is on top of it and that you and your baby are in good care. I'm so sorry you have all this to deal with at one time. Sending big hugs and lots of positive thought for you and your LO.
