faint positive at 12dpo and doc seems concerned?

After a very faint bfp with a hpt yesterday at 11dpo, I saw my doc today(12dpo) and she seems very cautious, which is scary to me. They did an HCG urine test and it was a very faint postive again. I had blood work done but won't have the results for a couple days. My doc is also having me do more blood work at 14dpo, in hopes that my numbers are increasing. Doc says for me to relax a lot, no heavy lifting, exercising, cleaning or sex. Is this normal? It seems like she doesn't think this pregnancy is viable but she's not just coming out and saying it.

Have you had previous losses? 11dpo is early to test, I actually did get my positive then but it was faint too. But I'm just curious why you saw your doctor so early. Lots of people don't even find out until past 14 dpo, or after when their period is due.

I'm not your doctor though so I would hate to lead you astray.

ETA: sorry, paused writing that and didn't see PP, so, what she said :)

  • Tiffbot and Sunshine, thanks for responding. This was my first clomid cycle so I'm in contact with the doc's office very often. After I had my 21 day progesterone draw I was told chances of pregnancy were pretty good. So when I felt lower abdomen pulling and dull cramping, I tested... And there was my faint BFP!
  • I don't understand her cause for concern either?

  • Congrats on the positive line (even if it is faint)! September was my first round of Chlomid as well... My doctor was also worried about my low hcg level at 13 DPO but it more than doubled two days later. Just remember that because of the chlomid you're on "high alert" for pregnancy symptoms - meaning you noticed your pregnancy symptoms earlier than most and it is still really early which corresponds to lower hcg levels.

Try not to stress... I know the wait can be torturous!
  • Hi lyricsoprani, i took a home test too in my 11dpo and it came faint line. Yesterday (12dpo) i went to the doctor, i knew it's too early, i have a cold and i know that i'm not supposed to take medication. She found nothing with ultrasound, and she said it's normal because the embryo is so little ans invisible. My blood test result is 100ui/l wich confirme that it's too early. She told to act asppregnant though and to come back in a week to verify that the implantation is correct (not extra uterine). Meanwhile i have to relax and minimize my activities. Today I'm 13dpo.
  • Hi ladies! I'm 6 weeks today and definitely pregnant, lol. I have a couple things going on that aren't ideal but most everything looks good. I hope you all have had some great results too. Good luck and try to relax:)
