I didn't want to hijack another thread. @Joy2611 mentioned Aaron and Erin are pronounced differently. How? I grew up in Kansas, everyone pronounces them the same around here.
My name is Erin and I have had so many people over the years spell it Aaron when I tell them my name. With they being said, I'm in Chicago and they are pronounced the same.
they're the same to me. i just sat here and said them both aloud and really tried to make them different, and i guess i could by making the second syllable of erin a little harsher... but i had to really try.
trying for #1 since May 2012... we're adopting!bringing home baby boy in january 2015!
They are the same for me too. I live in eastern Canada

I live in NYC. We would pronounce Aaron AH-ren (like a short A) and we would pronounce Erin EH -ren (short e).
This. NJ.
I live in AZ and they sound exactly the same to me. My mother is from NJ and they sound completely different when she says them. More emphasis on the double A sound.
I'm from the midwest, and if I try, I can make them sound different but in normal speech, I pronounce them exactly the same. In Hebrew, you pronounce Aaron as AH-ron with an elongated 'o'.
I'm an Erin originally from the northeast and I pronounce them differently. My whole family calls me Eh-rin but most people pronounce it Air-in. I actually tend to say "Air-in" when introducing myself to people, and when on the phone, people always think I'm saying "Anne".

Erin: Ayer-IN
Aaron: air-on
Very very subtle difference.
